1. Ghaziabad Couple, Manager Commit Suicide, Son, Daughter and Pet Found Dead

A businessman, his wife, and his manager allegedly jumped to death from the eighth floor of their building after the couple killed their teenage son and daughter in Indirapuram on the outskirts of Delhi, police said on Tuesday.

Businessman Gulshan Vasudeva (45), his wife Praveen and manager Sanjana jumped to their death in the early hours of Tuesday from the eighth floor of their apartment block in Krishna Apra society in Indirapuram, police said.

Before committing suicide, Gulshan killed his son Hritik (14) and daughter Hritika (18). He also killed his pet rabbit, City Superintendent of Police Maneesh Mishra said.

Sanjana's brothers, Firoz and Shameem, reached police station in the evening and claimed that Gulshan had married her around one and half years ago, officials said.

SP Mishra said police will verify the veracity of their statement.

2. Girl Raped, Shot Dead & Burnt in Bihar's Buxar

A minor girl was shot dead and burnt by unidentified men on Monday night in Kukdha village in Bihar’s Buxar district, police said.

According to police, the body of the girl, who appears to be around 16 years old, was recovered on Monday morning from a field under Itadhi police station in Buxar, around 150 kilometres from state capital Patna.

Police said that after initial examination doctors suspect the girl was raped.

Upendra Nath Verma, Buxar Superintendent of Police, said the assailants had set the girl on fire by pouring petrol on her. Two empty cartridges have been recovered from the spot.

3. Man Arrested for Raping 70-Yr-Old Woman in UP

A man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 70-year-old woman in this district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Tuesday.

The accused, 27, sexually assaulted the women when she was alone at her home, Circle Officer Gyan Prakash Rai said.

The incident took place on Sunday, he added.

"The rape accused was arrested on 2 December. A case under various sections of the IPC, including that of committing rape, has been registered against him," Rai said.

The man is a carpenter by profession while the woman a labourer and they both are Dalits, he said.

4. Man Kills Wife, Tries to Pass It Off as Suicide; Arrested

A 28-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and hanged her body from the ceiling of his house to pass it off as suicide here in Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday.

However, the accused, Tushar Sambre, a resident of Badlapur (East), failed in his plan and was arrested on murder charges on Tuesday, said senior police inspector D V Deshmukh.

The accused, who worked in a factory at Ambernath MIDC, had married the victim, Kanchan Sambre (24), in 2014, the police said.

He would often demand money from his in-laws and beat up his wife, torture her mentally and physically if the same was not given, they said, quoting from the complaint filed by the victim's father.

5. Maha Cop Shoots as Thieves Attack Him and Escape After Chase

A sub-inspector had to fire from his service revolver in self-defence after being attacked by two thieves armed with a crowbar and knives in the early hours of Tuesday in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said.

PSI Shantaram Mahale of Kasara police station was on patrol duty on the Mumbai-Nashik Highway and gave chase in a jeep after he was alerted about three thieves escaping in a van, said an official.

"The thieves had broken into a house in Kalambe area of Shahapur at around 1:30am. But they fled after neighbours woke up and raised an alarm. Mahale chased them in a jeep and also alerted Shirol police ahead to block their van," he said.

The Shirol police set up a road blockade and managed to stop the van, while Mahale's jeep blocked the vehicle from the rear, he added.

6. Cash, Ornaments Worth Rs 4.6 Lakh Stolen from Trader's Home

Cash and silver ornaments worth Rs 4.6 lakh were stolen by burglars from the house of a plywood trader here in Maharashtra, police said on Tuesday.

The burglary took place in broad daylight on Monday when no one was at the home of plywood trader Milind Deshpande (50), a resident of Navnath Co-op Housing Society in the Manish Nagar area of the city, they said.

The theft came to light when Deshpandes daughter returned home around 4 pm from school and found thieves had cut open a window grille and stolen valuables kept inside the bedroom, the police said.

Cash and silver ornaments worth Rs 4.6 lakh were found missing from the house, they said.

The police believe the burglary took place in the afternoon.

7. Three Men Arrested for Vehicle Thefts in Delhi

Three men involved in vehicle thefts in the Trans Yamuna area have been arrested, police said on Tuesday.

The accused were identified as Vasim, Mohammad Nadim and Danish, all aged 22, they said. On Monday, when police personnel were patrolling the area they stopped two men on a motorcycle and during checking the vehicle was found to be stolen from Subhash Place, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Amit Sharma.

Both Vasim and Nadim were arrested.

8. Idol from Amman Temple in Tiruvarur Stolen

A panchaloka (an alloy of five metals) idol belonging to Sri Mani Amman Temple in a village near Koradacheri in Tiruvarur district has allegedly been stolen, police said on Tuesday.

The robbery came to light on Monday after some men involved in repair work at the temple found the door to the sanctum sanctorum broken open and the idol missing, the police said.

The idol was said to be more than 300 years old and worth Rs one crore.

Police have registered a case and begun investigation.
