1. Gas Cutters Used to Break Open 3 ATMs, Rs 33 Lakh Stolen

Unidentified robbers targeted three ATMs of nationalised banks in Thane and Navi Mumbai by breaking open the machines using gas cutters and decamping with nearly Rs 33 lakh in cash. All three thefts were committed in the wee hours of Tuesday, 6 November. There were no security guards at the three kiosks.

While over Rs 17 lakh was stolen from an ATM in Bhiwandi’s Kongaon area, Rs 15 lakh was stolen from an ATM at Kharghar’s Papdichapada area. The same three-member gang is suspected to have hit at both the places as the modus operandi was similar, said the police. “At both ATM robberies, masked men entered the kiosk, spraypainted the CCTV camera to blind it and then using a gas cutter broke open the machine and removed the cash,” said Kharghar police senior inspector Pradeep Tidar.
