1. Four of a Family Found Murdered Under Mysterious Circumstances

Four members of a family were found murdered under mysterious circumstances in Pataudi’s Brijpura village on Wednesday night, the police said on Thursday, 30 August. No arrests have been made so far.

The deceased have been identified as Manish (28), his wife Pinki (23), their one-year-old daughter Charu and his mother Phoolbati (60), they said. The couple’s two-year-old son was also present in the house but escaped unhurt.

The incident came to fore around 8 pm when a local grew suspicious on seeing the family’s door ajar and went inside. He saw Manish and Phoolbati lying in a pool of blood while Pinki was found hanging from the ceiling, the police said.

2. SUV Runs over Four Labourers Sleeping on Footpath in Jaipur

A speeding SUV with a suspected drunk driver at the wheel ran over four labourers sleeping on a footpath in front Saras Dairy near Gandhi Nagar Railway station late Thursday, 30 August night, police said.

The driver of the SUV was arrested almost immediately after the accident and was taken to the Sawai Man Singh hospital for tests.

“The accused has been identified as Bharat Bhushan Meena (35), a native of Karuli district. Prima facie it appears the accused was under the influence of alcohol,” said Kavendra Singh Sagar, additional commissioner of police, Jaipur (East). Sagar said the four were seriously injured.

3. Girl, 11, Raped in Gurugram Society Basement, Varsity Student Booked

An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a neighbour at a housing society on the afternoon of Wednesday, 29 August, a time of day when the condominium’s cavernous basement is largely empty.

Police said on Thursday they had booked Piyush, a 22-year-old student of a private university, based on a complaint filed by the girl’s mother, under sections of the POCSO Act. The girl studies in a well-known CBSE school.

Child welfare committee chief Shakuntala Dhull said the girl and the youth knew each other and had connected on Instagram three months ago. She said he had raped her twice before Wednesday. CWC members met the girl for a counselling session.

4. Bihar: Buddhist Monk Held for Sexual Abuse of Minors at Gaya School

A Buddhist monk, who runs a school-cum-meditation centre in Gaya, has been arrested under provisions of the POCSO Act for allegedly beating up and sexually abusing minor children studying at the school. The accused is from Assam and the meditation centre-cum-school is run by an NGO owned by the monk.

Gaya Town DSP Raj Kumar Shah said, “Fifteen children, aged between eight and 12 years, alleged that they were being beaten up at the school. Kuch bachchon ne kaha unke saath galat kaam hota tha (some children said they were sexually abused)”.

5. Three Armed Men Loot Gold Worth Rs 50 Lakh

Three armed men robbed a jewellery store of gold worth Rs 50 lakh and Rs 2 lakh cash in east Delhi’s Pandav Nagar on Thursday, 30 August afternoon, the police said.

Owner Vijay Sharma and his wife, Priyanka Sharma, were held hostage at gunpoint inside the showroom during the robbery, they said.

While fleeing the showroom, the miscreants cut all the wires connecting the CCTV installed in the shop and even took away the digital video recorder. The police are now trying to ascertain their identity by obtaining CCTV footage from nearby shops.

6. Teen Gangraped in Cane Field in Ghaziabad

A Class XI student of a government college was allegedly waylaid by three boys while she was riding her bicycle home, dragged into a sugarcane field and raped on Wednesday, 29 August afternoon in Ghaziabad.

One of the suspects, police said, is a minor while another, Zahid (21) is the elder brother of a boy who had been slapped by the girl’s father two months ago for making obscene remarks at her.

The third boy was identified as Mohan Pal alias Tinku (19). But though a case has been filed under sections of the POCSO Act and Section 376D of the IPC, police said the girl’s family had made two complaints, prompting them to investigate further before making any arrests.

7. Delhi: Men with Knives Attack Passersby, 2 Dead

Failing to find members of their rival group, two men armed with knives and a pistol attacked five passersby, leaving two of them dead, in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri Wednesday 29 August night, said police. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (outer) Rajinder Singh Sagar said the attackers had no connection with people they attacked.

“They might have been under the influence of alcohol, which led them to attack passersby when they did not find the man they were looking for. We will nab them soon,” he said.

The bloodshed began from I-Block. “The men’s faces were covered and they were threatening people. They attacked two persons standing nearby, stabbed two more persons and fled,” said Rajkumar, an eyewitness.

8. Trader Tries to Stop ‘Snatchers’ in East Delhi, Shot

Two alleged snatchers reportedly shot a businessman for trying to stop and apprehend them in east Delhi’s Babarpur on Tuesday, 29 August afternoon. Police said after the shooting, the men robbed another passerby of his scooter and fled. The suspects remained unidentified till late Thursday night.

The two men left behind their motorcycle, but the police said the scooter they stole had Rs 60,000 cash in its boot.

The crime reportedly took place at about 1 pm on Tuesday in Babarpur when some residents started chasing two alleged snatchers on a motorcycle.

9. Bike-Borne Men Snatch Scribe’s Bag

A journalist was robbed of her bag by unidentified bike-borne men near ITO on Thursday, 30 August afternoon, the police said.

Simontini Bhattacharjee was on her way to a press meet when the accused snatched her bag. She had a debit card, pan card, credit card and other relevant documents in it, the police said.

While resisting the attack, the victim received minor injuries on her hand.
