Priyanka Gandhi is ‘Surpanakha’ and Rahul ‘Raavan’: BJP MLA

“Ram’s role is being played by Modi,” BJP MLA Surendra Singh said.

Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA Surendra Singh is once again in the news for making controversial remarks.

BJP leader Surendra Singh has likened Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to ‘Surpanakha’, Raavan’s sister in the epic Ramayana, saying that just as Raavan had sent his sister to fight Lord Ram, Rahul Gandhi has sent Priyanka to fight Narendra Modi, according to an India Today report.

"Ram's role is being played by Modi," Singh said.

The BJP MLA from Uttar Pradesh’s Bariya constituency said while talking to reporters, “You all are aware that when war was about to start between Lord Ram and Raavan in which Lanka was won over, Raavan had first sent his sister – Surpanakha. It appears that in this war, Rahul is in the role of Raavan and Modi is playing the role of Lord Ram. Rahul who is Raavan, has fielded his sister Surpanakha in the battle, now let us assume that Lanka is won this time also,” he said, reported ABP News.

Interestingly, this comment comes a day after Rahul Gandhi was depicted as Lord Ram in posters in Patna, ahead of the Congress rally.

Since her entry into active politics earlier this month, taking up the position of the General Secretary of Congress, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka has been at the receiving end of personal attacks and sexist comments.

Singh is no stranger to controversy, reported India Today.

Earlier, he had supported party colleague Sadhana Singh, who raised a political storm by calling BSP chief Mayawati "worse than a transgender". He had said there was nothing wrong in her remarks, reported ABP News.
