2 Soldiers Killed, 4 Injured During Bridging Exercise at CME, Pune

A Court of Inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

Two Indian Army soldiers lost their lives at the College of Military Engineering (CME) in Pune during a bridging exercise, media reports said on Thursday, 26 December.

Four other personnel were also reportedly injured. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

According to defence officials cited by The Indian Express, the incident happened on Thursday afternoon while training was underway on a mobile bridge.

A "tower support" collapsed during the training, an official of the Southern Command of the Army was quoted by PTI as saying. The injured jawans were shifted to the Military Hospital, Kirkee.

“Lance Havildar Sanjivan PK and Naik Waghmode BK sustained serious injuries and lost their lives during the treatment,” he said. Four others were undergoing treatment, he added.
