A 13-year-old girl was allegedly confined by a 32-year-old doctor in his clinic for three days and raped at a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzzafarnagar, police said on Sunday, 22 April.
The doctor, Sonu Verma, was arrested by the Muzzafarnagar police, and the clinic has been sealed by the district chief medical officer (CMO).
The minor reportedly visited the clinic to get medicines for headache, where Verma gave her sedatives. He then allegedly took her to a local newspaper office, that he runs, and sexually assaulted her, reported The Indian Express, quoting SP Ajay Kumar Sachdev.
The girl managed to escape from confinement on Thursday, 19 April, and reported the matter to her father on Saturday, Circle Officer (CO) SKS Pratap said.
The officer said, the doctor had given her a sedative and raped her, according to the girl’s father. The complainant also claimed that he, along with villagers, had launched a search in the area after she went missing.
The matter is being investigated and the girl was sent for medical examination, Pratap said.
