Panaji, March 13 (IANS) With the model code of conduct coming into force, the government websites have removed pictures of the Prime Minister and other Union ministers, but the Goa government website is yet to comply with the rule.
The Goa government website on Wednesday continued to display photograph of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Most state government websites have also removed photographs of Chief Ministers.
The model code of conduct came into effect on Sunday after the Election Commission announced the Lok Sabha poll schedule.
The code states the party in power -- whether at the Centre or in the state -- shall ensure that it does not use its official position for the purposes of election campaign. It also bars ministers from combining their official visit with electioneering work.
It also does not allow ministers from making use of official machinery or personnel during the electioneering work.
The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19 and counting of votes will take place on May 23.
