Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday, 30 September, ‘appealed’ to a Twitter user after he replied to an earlier tweet of her, saying people would consume poison if the PMC Bank crisis is not resolved.

On Monday, the finance minister tweeted addressing the PMC Bank crisis. She asked depositors to refer to a press release by the PIB and the bank's website, in case of any grievance.

Replying to her tweet, a user urged her for a 'quick resolution'. He went on to say, "Please accept this as the challenge and help otherwise people are bound to consume poison and die."

Soon after, FM Sitharaman replied to his tweet asking him not to mention any such action, adding that 'multi state cooperative institutions' are regulated by the RBI and not finance ministry.

Meanwhile on Monday, in a new development, news agency PTI quoted bank sources to report that frenetic large cash withdrawals by a few large depositors of the now crippled Punjab & Maharashtra Cooperative in the third week of September following a whistleblower leak prompted the regulator to enforce a strict withdrawal cap from the cooperative last week.
