1. Lok Sabha Elections 2019: EC Files Plaint Against Deora For Violating Model Code
Following directives by the Maharashtra State Election Commission (MSEC), local election authorities on Friday filed a complaint against South Mumbai Congress candidate Milind Deora for violating the model code of conduct during his election campaign.
This action was taken on the complaint of Shiv Sena, which alleged Deora was spreading a lie that its workers had cooked meat outside a Jain temple during Paryushan.

2. Protesting Ongoing Coastal Road Project, Fishermen Urge Others To Boycott Election
Fishermen in Worli Koliwada have called other residents of the locality to join them in boycotting the election to the Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency, as a mark of protest against various parties ignoring their complaints of loss of livelihood owing to the under-construction coastal road project.
The banners they erected in this regard on Friday were, however, removed allegedly by the police, claiming it could be violation of the model code of conduct, residents claimed. The banners urged Kolis in the Worli area to boycott the elections on April 29 because their problems arising out of the reclamation work for the project remain unresolved despite promises made by the various parties.

3. Sohrabuddin’s Brother Appeals In HC Against Acquittal Of All Accused
Nearly four months after a special court acquitted 22 men, including 21 policemen from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, for the alleged encounter of Sohrabuddin Shaikh in 2005, his brother Rubabuddin on Thursday filed an appeal before the Bombay High Court against the acquittals.
Claiming he had written to authorities, including the home minister, cabinet secretary, home secretary and director of CBI on January 14, seeking an appeal in the case, Rubabuddin said that after receiving no response from them, he decided to file the appeal himself. The trial court on December 21, last year, had acquitted all 22 men for the alleged encounters of Sohrabuddin, his associate Tulsiram Prajapati as well as the murder of his wife Kausarbi, stating that there was no sufficient evidence to convict them.

4. 1,266 Swine Flu Cases Reported In Maharashtra Between Jan 1 And April 15
Swine flu (H1N1) has claimed 98 lives in Maharashtra in the first four months of this year, revealed statistics from the state public health department. The state reported 1,266 cases of swine flu from January 1 to April 15. Eight of these patients are on ventilator. In 2018, the state had recorded 2,594 cases of swine flu, resulting in 462 deaths.
Between March 15 and April 15 alone, 454 H1N1 cases were reported in the state, which resulted in the deaths of 43 patients. A majority of the cases were reported from Nagpur, Pune, Nashik, Thane and Palghar, said officials at the Directorate of Health Services (DHS).

5. Four Dead, One Injured As Truck Topples Onto Them In Vikhroli
Four people were killed and another was seriously injured after a truck overturned while taking a turn and fell on them in Vikhroli late on Thursday. While the police have arrested the truck driver, local residents, who gathered outside the police station, also blamed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the incident.
According to the Parksite police, the incident occurred around 11.45 p.m. in Surya Nagar, Vikhroli. The police said the truck was on its way out of the area after delivering rations to a local store. While taking a turn, the driver lost control over the vehicle, and it toppled onto the five people who were standing near it.
