1. Complaint Against Urmila Matondkar Over ‘Anti-Hindu’ Remark

A BJP worker has lodged a complaint with police accusing Bollywood actor and Congress’s Lok Sabha candidate Urmila Matondkar of making anti-Hindu remarks, an official said Sunday.

The BJP worker also sought actions against Congress president Rahul Gandhi for allegedly instructing Matondkar to make the “calumnious comments” and journalist Rajdeep Sardesai allegedly for letting the actor make the remarks on his news channel and telecasting them.

2. Nine-Year-Old’s Rape in Mumbai: Family Demands Death Penalty for Accused

The family of the nine-year-old girl, who was found raped and murdered in a slum in Juhu, on Sunday demanded death penalty for the arrested accused, Vadivel alias Gundappa Chintambi Devendra, 31.

“I want him hanged. I will not perform her last rites till I am convinced that he (accused) will be given death punishment,” said the girl’s mother, 29. The girl went missing around 6.30pm on Thursday, when her mother sent her out on an errand.

Urging the youths of Mumbai to send Prime Minister Narendra Modi back to Gujarat, Patidar leader Hardik Patel said that the youths of the country are much disappointed with the NDA government, which made many promises to the people but failed to keep them. He also criticised the development model of Gujarat which, he said, was limited to only three cities.

4. Liquor, Weapons and Drugs Seized, 10 Arrested

Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Mumbai police have seized liquor, weapons and drugs collectively worth over Rs 45,000, and arrested 10 persons in this connection from the city.

A statement issued by the Mumbai city district collectorate office on Sunday said, the seizures and arrests were made during the various raids conducted since Saturday. Forty one litres of alcohol worth around Rs 12,054 was seized and six persons were arrested, it said.

5. Mumbai Students Bring Relief to Metro Workers With #Ekbottlepaani

While many of us choose to stay indoors in the sweltering heat, a group of students from Xavier Institute of Communication (XIC) spent their Sunday distributing water bottles to hundreds of construction workers building the city’s Metro network.

The initiative, led by XIC, was aimed at helping the workers fight the heat and stay hydrated while working. “This is a unique water distribution initiative for the hands that are building the future of the city,” said Pratham Tripathi, a student of XIC, who participated in the event.
