Metro 7 that will connect Dahisar (East) and Andheri (East) is set to miss its December 2019 deadline owing to delay in finalising contracts for the supply of rolling stock. With Metro 2A (Dahisar-D N Nagar) set to be thrown open for the public in 2020, both lines in the western suburbs will be functional in 2020, said officials in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

When work began on the Metro 7, the MMRDA had announced that it would be completed by December 2019. Currently, 70 per cent of the civil work for Metro 7 is complete and civil work on Metro 2A is also at a similar stage. The MMRDA said civil work on both corridors will be completed by the end of 2018.
