6. Rs 50-Crore Relief for Campa Cola Residents

Residents of Campa Cola compound in Worli, who have been fighting a long court battle over the legality of their homes, have some reason to cheer. The BMC chief has withdrawn an earlier order, which would have forced the residents to cough up a penalty of Rs 50 crore before the land, which is leased to M/s Pure Drinks Pvt Ltd, could be transferred in the society’s name.

A 20-year-old watches TV late into Sunday night at his elder brother's courier company office at LT Marg. Other employees request him to turn the TV off so they can sleep. The youth is HIV-positive and used to being coddled by his family, so he ignores the requests. They call his brother and uncle to make him see reason, but the boy remains obstinate.

The youth's frustrated brother slaps him and yells at him for disregarding everyone else's needs. Not used to being held accountable or being disciplined, the 20-year-old reacts by stabbing his brother twice. "The boy had never heard been scolded in this manner before, and no one had ever slapped him. Full of anger, he picked up the knife, which was kept in the room, and stabbed his brother twice," said a police officer.

A day before students appear for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has once again reminded candidates that they will not be allowed to enter an exam centre once the examination begins.
