1. 'Won't Quit BJP', Says Pankaja Munde; To Hold Fast On January 27 And Address Issues In Marathwada
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pankaja Munde said she will not quit the party, and hold a fast in Aurangabad on January 27 to address the pending issues in the Marathwada region.
"This [the fast] will be not against any party or individuals. It will be a symbolic hunger strike to attract the attention of the leadership towards the issue of Marathwada," Munde said at the rally.

2. PMLA Case: ED to send LR to UK, UAE to Seize Mirchi’s Properties
In a bid to seize foreign properties linked to deceased gangster Iqbal Mohammed Memon, alias Iqbal Mirchi, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has drawn up plans to send letters rogatory (LR) to the United Kingdom (UK) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The agency has identified several properties bought with illegal money in these two countries, a police source said.

3. RTO Strikes Blow On 560 Vehicles Over School Kids' Safety
Taking note of school kids' safety, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) on Thursday, took action against 561 vehicles in Mumbai Metropolitan Region over scores of violations right from overloading vehicles with school kids to helmet-less drivers. Of these, 156 vehicles are from Mumbai, 314 from Thane and adjoining areas and 91 from Panvel. This is in addition to the action of illegal school buses and other vehicles ferrying school kids in which action was taken against 113 vehicles in Mumbai, 231 in Thane and 91 in Panvel.

4. MMRDA’s ₹100-cr Resolution For 2020: Making Commute Smoother on WEH
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is looking to improve the experience of commuting on the western express highway (WEH) in 2020.
The authority has appointed Louis Berger group to study the shortcomings and suggest recommendations to reduce traffic congestion on the 25-km arterial road. The project aims at improving quality of the road, better junction designs, improving signages, and ensuring smoother entry and exit on to flyovers.

5. For Second Time Since November, Mumbai Air Enters ‘Poor’ Category
For the second time since November, the Air Quality Index (AQI) for Mumbai entered the ‘poor’ category on Thursday. According to the System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting (SAFAR), the AQI was ‘poor’ during the day but ‘moderate’ (199) in the evening.
Of the 10 stations in Mumbai, three recorded ‘poor’ AQI, while one recorded ‘very poor’ on Thursday.
