1. Hindutva Issues Left Out of Common Minimum Programme

While the Shiv Sena, Congress and the NCP have agreed on a Common Minimum Programme (CMP) to form a government in the state, Hindutva issues have been kept out of the CMP. A senior Sena functionary said that Hindutva and the Sena’s stand on issues like Ram Mandir, Article 370 and Uniform Civil Code will be discussed by Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, NCP president Sharad Pawar and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

For now, the CMP mostly revolves around farmer’s issues. On Saturday, a delegation of leaders from the Sena, the Congress and NCP is expected to meet Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to discuss the aid measures for farmers affected by unseasonal rain. This shows that the alliance is in robust health.

2. BJP ‘Cool’ as Oppn Readies to Stake Claim to Form Govt

As the Congress, NCP and its onagain-off-again ally Shiv Sena work feverishly to draw up consent terms for an alliance, the BJP’s central leadership continues to remain ‘unperturbed’. Sources in Delhi BJP, in fact, claim that the party has no immediate plans to axe ties with the Sena in the BMC either.

“There is nothing for us to worry about. Let the parties meet the Governor and we will see what comes of it,” Bhupendra Yadav, BJP’s Maharashtra in-charge told Mirror.

The three opposition parties are slated to meet Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and stake claim to form government in the next few days. “There is nothing for us to worry about,” Yadav reiterated. “Let a government be formed.”

The Jiwrajka brothers, card-holding members of Mumbai’s socialite circle, have been ordered by a London court to pay £9,850,690.31 (over Rs 91 crore) to the State Bank of India (SBI).

The brothers – Surendra, Dilip and Ashok – will also have to pay a daily interest of £2,159 (approximately Rs 2 lakh) until they pay the bank the full amount.

The bank approached the Business and Property Court after the Jiwrajkas-owned Grabal Alok UK Limited defaulted on the credit facilities provided to it. In 2007, Grabal Alok had acquired popular fashion chain Store 21, which had more than 300 outlets in the UK. It collapsed in 2017, leading to the loss of hundreds of jobs across the country.
