Manmohan Singh Discharged From AIIMS, Tests Negative for COVID-19

“Dr Singh was admitted to AIIMS after he developed febrile reaction to a new medication,” sources cited by ANI said.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who had been admitted to Delhi's AIIMS late on Sunday after complaining of “uneasiness”, was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, 12 May.

The Congress leader was discharged around 12:30 pm, hospital sources cited by PTI said.

Earlier on Monday, reports said that he was stable and his condition had improved, even as he tested negative for COVID-19.

"Former PM and Congress leader Dr Manmohan Singh was admitted to AIIMS for observation and investigation after he developed febrile reaction to a new medication. He's being investigated to rule out other causes of fever. He's stable and under care at the cardio-thoracic Centre of AIIMS," sources cited by ANI had said on Monday.

The 87-year-old leader, who was the prime minister during the two tenures of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government from 2004 to 2014, had undergone a successful coronary bypass surgery at AIIMS in 2009, according to PTI.

‘Relieved He’s Discharged’

Several political leaders, across political parties, had earlier taken to Twitter to wish the former PM a speedy recovery.
