1. PMC Bank Scam: 10 Detained for Protesting Outside Maharashtra CM’s Bungalow
At least 10 depositors of Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative (PMC) Bank were on Friday detained for protesting in front of ‘Varsha’, the official residence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Malabar Hill area, an official said.
The protesters, mostly women, had gathered outside the CM’s bungalow with placards reading “Kali Diwali, thank you PMC (Black Diwali, thank you PMC)” for a silent protest. However, police asked them to move away from the site and later detained them for refusing to leave the site, a police official said.

2. After MNS Increases Vote Bank, NCP Eyes Alliance in Thane
The increase in voting percent for Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in Thane city limits this election may pave way for a new alliance in the civic polls to be held in the next three years.
MNS, which secured 8,372 votes in the last Assembly elections from Thane city, increased its vote bank to almost 72,874 votes this election. The increase has not only boosted party workers’ morale but also paved way for an alliance.

3. BMC Sends Four Corporators to Maharashtra Assembly
Four of the 11 corporators from BMC, who contested the state elections, won their seats on Thursday. Among the winners were first-time corporator, BJP’s Parag Shah; Samajwadi Party’s Rais Shaikh, who is completing his second term as a corporator; Shiv Sena’s Ramesh Korgaonkar, a fourth-term corporator; and Dilip Lande, a third-time corporator.
On the other hand, senior corporators like Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, Shiv Sena’s Rajul Patel, Congress’ Asif Zakaria, faced defeat.

4. Over 29,000 Mongoose Hair Paint Brushes Seized, 15 Held
The Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) has seized 29,166 paint brushes made from mongoose hair in simultaneous raids across multiple locations in Maharashtra on Thursday. The raids were part of a nationwide operation, ‘Clean Art’, which is the agency’s effort to control the hunting of the species for fur.
The WCCB has roped in multiple central agencies, like the Central Bureau of Investigation, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Forest Department, India Post, state police departments, a Mumbai-based NGO named Wildlife Welfare Association, and held capacity-building, target-identification and verification exercises between October 1 and 21.

5. Four Get Five Years Jail for Dowry Harassment, Abetting Suicide
The Thane sessions court on Wednesday awarded five years rigorous imprisonment to four members of a family after the wife of the first accused committed suicide, alleging dowry harassment around six years ago.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs5,000 on each of them. In case they fail to pay the fine, they will have to undergo simple imprisonment for another one month, the court said.
