Sensex, Nifty Open Higher for 4th Consecutive Session
Indian equity benchmarks extended gains for the fourth consecutive trading session. The S&P BSE Sensex opened at 36,744.02 and the NSE Nifty 50 opened at 11,077.95.
The market breadth was tilted in favour of buyers. About 891 stocks advanced and 561 shares declined on National Stock Exchange.
Eight out of 11 sectoral gauges compiled by NSE fell, led by the NSE Nifty Metal Index’s 1.02 percent decline. On the flipside, the NSE Nifty FMCG Index was the top sectoral gainer, up 0.39 percent.

At least two persons have died after consuming spurious liquor at Maroda village in Tehri district.
Two others who had consumed the liquor along with them are battling for life.

Maoist leader CP Jaleel was killed in an encounter with Kerala police in Vythiri area on the night of 6 March.
The gunfight went on till early Thursday morning. A group of Maoists allegedly reached a private resort and demanded food for 10 members of the team and money.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping and marrying a minor relative in Palghar district of Maharashtra.
The accused, identified as Ajay Singh, held his 17-year-old niece captive at his home in Virar area.
