5 Injured in Clash Over Money Dispute in UP's Muzaffarnagar

Five people were injured in a clash between two groups of the same community Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar over some minor dispute, police said.

The incident occurred at Hajipura locality in Civil Lines police station area on Tuesday. Arif and Mohsin confronted each other apparently over some money dispute. It led to a clash in which sharp weapons and sticks were used, the police said.

Hundreds of koalas are feared to have burned to death in an out-of-control bushfire on Australia's east coast, wildlife authorities said on Wednesday.

A bushfire believed to have been sparked by a lightning strike on Saturday some 400 kilometres (248 miles) north of Sydney has ravaged an area of over 2,000 hectares (4,942 acres) with authorities battling to bring it under control.

Civilian Killed as Pakistan Opens Fire Along LoC

A civilian was killed and five others were injured as Pakistani troops opened fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Machhil sector of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday.

The Indian Army gave a befitting response to the Pakistani aggression that started on Tuesday night, the officials said.

Naxalites of the banned Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC), a splinter group of the CPI (Maoist), set fire to three trucks in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district, a senior police officer said on Wednesday.

The Naxalites set the three trucks on fire at a coal dump near the Katkumsandi Railway Station on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police, Mayur Patel, said.

3 Dead in Los Angeles Halloween Party Shooting

At least three people were killed and nine others injured in a shooting at a Halloween party in southern Los Angeles late Tuesday, authorities and local media reports said.

Aerial footage from local TV news channels showed paramedics treating the injured in a yard between a nail salon and a residential home in Long Beach.

6 Policemen Hurt in Stone Pelting in Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh

A police officer and five constables were injured when their vehicle was pelted with stones in Padhana town in Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, police said on Wednesday, 30 October.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Padhana, about 65 kms from Rajgarh district headquarters.

"A mob hurled stones on a police vehicle, injuring Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Padam Singh Baghel and five constables on Tuesday night," said Sarangpur police station in-charge Ravindra Chavaria.

Nirav Modi Moves New Bail Application, Hearing on 6 November

Fugitive diamond merchant Nirav Modi, wanted in India in connection with the nearly $2 billion PNB fraud and money laundering case, has moved a new bail plea against his continued detention in a London prison cell.

The 48-year-old, who is fighting extradition to India, has reportedly sighted anxiety and depression in the latest application, his fifth attempt at bail since arrest on an extradition warrant in March this year.

His new application will be heard at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London on 6 November, a court official said on Wednesday.

JD(U) Pushes For ‘Proportionate Representation' in Modi Cabinet

BJP ally JD(U), which had refused to join the Modi government in June, on Wednesday pushed for a "proportionate representation" for the party in the Union Cabinet, saying if Prime Minister Narendra Modi or BJP President Amit Shah take an initiative to this effect, it will welcome the move.

Shortly after Nitish Kumar addressed his party's national council following his re-election as party president for a fresh three-year term, the JD(U) reminded the BJP that the Bihar chief minister has given the saffron party a proportionate representation in the state government.

Rajasthan HC Orders to Dismiss FIR, Charge Sheet Against Pehlu Khan

The Rajasthan High Court has ordered to dismiss the FIR and charge-sheet against Pehlu Khan, his two sons and the driver of the vehicle, ANI reported.

On 1 April 2017, Khan, a 55-year-old dairy farmer from Haryana's Nuh, was beaten up by self-styled cow vigilantes near Behror in Rajasthan on the Delhi-Alwar highway. He had succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital two days later.
