Delhi Woman Shot Dead by Husband for Dowry

A 25-year-old woman was shot dead allegedly by her husband over dowry demand in south-west Delhi's Kapashera area, police said on Saturday.

The incident took place on Wednesday, 25 December and the body was thrown from the second floor of a building to make it look like a case of suicide, they said. Initially, it appeared to be a case of suicide but the postmortem report revealed that the victim was first shot in the head and later thrown off the building, he said.

2 Injured in Bomb Explosion in Manipur

Two persons were injured on Saturday after a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) exploded, police said.

The incident happened early in the morning at Ngari Dukan Pareng under the jurisdiction of City Police Station in the state capital, a police officer said.

The injured were taken to a hospital and their condition is stated to be normal and no individual or any group claimed responsibility for the blast, he said.

2 Govt Officials Among 8 Chargesheeted in Cases of Fraud in Jammu

Eight persons, including two government officials, were chargesheeted in two separate cases of fraud on Saturday, 28 December, a Jammu and Kashmir crime branch spokesperson said.

A charge sheet was filed in the court of special judge (anti-corruption) against four people, including the former Tehsildar of Jammu, Subash Singh Chib, and Patwari Rajinder Kumar for allegedly making fake documents in a sale deed two years ago, he said.

Vijay Kumar New IGP of Kashmir

Senior IPS officer Vijay Kumar will be the new Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, replacing Swayam Prakash Pani, according to an official order issued on Saturday, 28 December.

The order to this effect was issued by the Principal Secretary (Home) Shaleen Kabra.

Kumar is a 1997-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who is presently posted as IGP (Armed). He will replace Pani who took over as the youngest IGP at the age of 41 years in February 2018.
