Encounter Underway Between Militants and Security Forces in Anantnag

An encounter has started in Anantnag's Munward on Wednesday, 29 August, ANI reported. Atleast one terrorist is believed to be trapped. Police, Army and CRPF are carrying out operations and mobile internet services have been suspended in the district.

1 Dead, 35 Injured After Bombing at Philippine Town Festival

A bomb concealed in a bag exploded late Tuesday, 28 August, leaving at least one dead and 35 others wounded during a town celebration in the southern Philippines, AP reported quoting a military commander. The attacker was chased but managed to escape, he said.

Ousted Tata Chairman Cyrus Mistry Moves NCLAT

Ousted Tata group Chairman Cyrus P Mistry has approached the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal against the order of the Mumbai Bench of NCLT which upheld his removal as chairman of the company, reported PTI.

Mistry has filed the petition in his personal capacity, requesting the appellate tribunal to set aside the impugned order passed by the National Company Law Tribunal on 9 July.

CPI(M) to Not Support TMC, BJP in WB Panchayat Boards' Formation

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury said there is "no question" of lending support to the ruling TMC or the BJP in the formation of gram panchayat boards in West Bengal, reported PTI.

"If we have single party (Left Front) majority, then we will form the board. But, there is no question of supporting the BJP or the TMC. Our stand is clear; we will fight against both the parties. If someone is found to be violating the party line, then action would be taken", Yechury told reporters.
