Rahul Asks Chhattisgarh CM to File Review Petition on SC's Tribal Eviction Order

Congress President Rahul Gandhi has written to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to file a review petition on SC's order directing state governments to evict tribals and other forest-dwellers whose claims under Forest Rights Act were rejected, ANI reported.

Building Collapses in Karol Bagh, No Injuries Reported

A portion of a dilapidated building collapsed in central Delhi's Karol Bagh area on Saturday, 23 February, an official from the Delhi Fire Service told PTI.

Four people, including a woman, who were trapped inside the building were safely rescued, he said.

The Delhi Fire Service received a call about the incident at 8 pm after which four vehicles, including a rescue responder, were rushed to the spot, the official said.

No injuries were reported, he added.

The incident comes a few days after 17 people were killed in a massive fire at a hotel in Karol Bagh.

Pakistan Violates Ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri

Pakistani troops violated ceasefire on Saturday, 23 February, by targeting forward posts and villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.

"At about 4:30 pm, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by shelling with mortars and firing of small arms along the LoC in Nowshera sector," he said, as per PTI.  The spokesman said the army is retaliating "strongly and effectively".

There was no immediate report of any casualty on the Indian side in the cross-border firing which was still continuing when last reports were received, he said.

Girl Thrown Off Terrace for Resisting Rape in UP's Shahjahanpur

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly thrown off the terrace of her house when she resisted a rape bid by a youth in Bijlipura area in UP's Shahjahanpur on Saturday, 23 February.

The girl, a student of Class 10, was sleeping on the terrace when a youth from her neighbourhood tried to rape her, SP City Dinesh Tripathi said, as per PTI.
