1. City Tops in Buying E-Cigarettes
Sample surveys of companies that are marketing e-cigarettes in the country have found that Hyderabad has the highest sale of such products, and that people believe that it is not as harmful as an actual cigarette.
A single pack sells for Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 and is bought online. The central government issued an advisory last year, following which 12 states in India banned ENDS (Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems) but the Telangana government has put the file ‘under consideration’.

2. IT Firm Back in Spotlight for Wrong Reason
The controversy over the Intermediate results has brought Globerena Technologies Private Limited back in the spotlight. It was involved in an alleged goof-up of results at the JNTU-Kakinada in 2015.
The government’s three-member technical committee quizzed the company representatives on Tuesday. Globarena has a three-year contract with the Intermediate Board.

3. Why Didn’t Telangana Ask for RTE Fund: High Court
The Telangana High Court on Tuesday pulled up the state government for not implementing its order to reserve 25 percent of the seats in all private schools for students hailing from the economically weaker sections of society.
The court observed that the government had not made any effort to implement orders and to get grant-in-aid from the Centre under the Right to Education Act.

4. Many Areas Wait for a Full Day for Electricity
Residents of many areas had to wait between 10 hours and a full day before power was restored following Monday’s gales and rain.
It was also found on Tuesday that the Qutub Shahi Idgah at Madannapet had sustained damage in the storm. As many as 230 trees got uprooted and tree branches fell on roads or snapped power cables in 407 instances.

5. Intermediate Board Secretary Admits ‘Mistake’
Amidst growing resentment against the goof up in the Intermediate results announced by the Board of Intermediate Education on Thursday, its secretary A Ashok on Monday admitted that ‘major’ errors had crept in the valuation of papers.
He clarified that not even a single answer script has been misplaced and they were safely stored in the 12 camps across the State under round-the-clock police surveillance. “There were some reports that hundreds of answer scripts were missing. I request the parents not to believe such rumours, as papers are safe and will be shown to the students very soon,” he said while addressing the media outside his office.
