1. Engineer Kills Girlfriend, Stuffs Body in Suitcase

A 25-year-old mechanical engineer was arrested by Cyberabad police for allegedly killing his girlfriend, who was pestering him to marry her, stuffing her body in a suitcase and dumping it in Suraram village.

Sunil Kumar allegedly killed the woman in a hotel room inside the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) complex in Shamshabad late on April 4 and then dumped the body beneath a culvert at Suraram village, nearly 75 kilometres from the airport in Hyderabad.

Sunil Kumar, a resident of MIG in BHEL, stuffed her body in a trolley suitcase and carried it in an TSRTC bus till KPHB Colony.

2. Social Media Trolling Stalls Raja Singh’s Song Release?

Telangana’s lone BJP legislator Raja Singh, known for his fiery speeches and minority bashing, stumbled before he could make his debut as a singer. Two days after promising to release his maiden song on Ram Navami and dedicated to the Indian Army, the MLA didn’t fulfil it.

This after the social media ripped apart the budding singer’s hopes by identifying the 1.5-minute clip as a copy of a song released by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department.

3. Over 1,200 Take Part in Corporate Sports Tourney

Corporate Sports Tournament 2019, organised by Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (HYSEA) in association with Freedom Healthy Cooking Oil Range, Synchrony and CYKUL, was flagged off by HYSEA chief operating officer Srinivas Rao and others at Gachibowli Stadium on Sunday, 14 April.

The tournament started with 5K and 10K runs, followed by other forms of sports including cricket, volleyball, tennis, table tennis, football, kabaddi, and other indoor and outdoor sports. Over 1,200 employees of various corporate companies participated in the tournament.

4. Two Arrested in Hyderabad for Damaging Ambedkar’s Statue

Two persons were arrested by the Jawaharnagar police for allegedly damaging a statue of BR Ambedkar. The accused allegedly carried the statue without permission in a garbage truck from Punjagutta to the Jawaharnagar dumping yard.

The statue was installed at Punjagutta circle without permission on Friday night. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials and police rushed to the spot, removed it and sent it to the Kotla Vijaybhaskar Reddystadium in Yousufguda. “From there, the statue was removed without the GHMC’s permission and taken to Jawaharnagar dumpyard,” police said.

5. With No I-T Angle, Hyderabad Police Release BJP’s Rs 8 Crore

As expected, the Hyderabad police released the Rs 8 crore cash, belonging to the BJP, which it had seized on Monday, 8 April. The cash was lying in the Narayanguda police station after the income-tax authorities cited “lack of space” as the reason for not accepting it, and the car in which the money was being transported.

Two days ago, the I-T department washed its hands off the Rs 8 crore after it gave a clean chit to the saffron party, saying “there is no income-tax angle” to the whole affair. Sources said that on Friday, the I-T department wrote another letter to the Hyderabad police saying that since the money was accounted for by the BJP, it can be released immediately.
