1. Man Shot Dead In Front His Children by Drug Peddler

Hundreds of residents from southeast Delhi’s Taimur Nagar on Monday, 1 October took to the streets to protest the murder of 34-year-old Rupesh Besoya, who was shot dead at point blank range by an alleged drug peddler in front of his children and neighbours on the night of 30 September.

The protestors alleged police inaction and demanded immediate arrest of the killers.

According to police, two armed men appeared from a narrow street, shouting at someone using abusive language. Rupesh’s children, who were present at the time of the incident, told us he had asked them to not use abusive language in front of children. On this, one of the men shot at Rupesh and walked away, said a police.

“We have detained a few suspects for questioning. A number of locals are being questioned. We have possible leads and the culprits will soon be arrested,” DCP Biswal.

2. Ex-Serviceman Arrested for ‘Sodomising’ Two Minors

An ex-serviceman was arrested and a juvenile apprehended in Gurugram for allegedly sodomising two children, both under the age of ten, on multiple occasions over the last three months, police said.

According to police, the victims, aged five and nine, are cousins.

In the FIR, the father of the five-year-old said the matter came to light on 29 September when the family went to pick up the nine-year-old from his school hostel, when the child told them about the alleged assault. The child claimed that the accused threatened to kill him if he told anyone.

3. 19-Year-Old Woman Gangraped, Five Arrested

A 19-year-old married woman of Jhansi was gang-raped by five persons in Bhopal’s PC Nagar for two weeks. The Habibganj police have nabbed the five accused involved in captivating and sexually assaulting the victim.

A complaint was lodged on 30 September after she reported the incident. Police said that the victim had come to her relative’s house at PC Nagar BDA EWS building where she was held captive by the main accused who lives in the same building.

In her complaint the victim stated that she was at the terrace of the building when the main accused Lokesh came and started to talk with her. Later, she fell unconscious and when she regained conscious, she found herself inside a room.

4. BSF Man Shoots Colleague Dead

A Border Security Force (BSF) man allegedly shot dead a colleague with his service rifle after an altercation in Ghaziabad on Monday, 1 October.

Ajeet Singh from Punjab allegedly fired two shots at 26-year-old Jagpreet Singh, the police said.

“There was some altercation between the two constables on the night of 30 September. They both were staying in one of the rooms of the school. Around 8 am on Monday, the accused fired two shots with his Insas rifle at the victim, killing him,” police added.

“Prima facie reason is a minor scuffle between the two constables over some personal issue. The accused is under police custody. Legal action is being taken up,” said Vaibhav Krishna, Ghaziabad’s Senior Superintendent of Police.

5. Teacher Shot Dead, Family Claims Killed Over Relationship

A 31-year-old man who used to teach at a coaching centre was gunned down by a masked man, who was waiting for him inside the centre, in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, police said.

The family of the man, Ankit Sagar, suspect he may have been killed over his relationship with a woman from the minority community. They have also asked police to look into the role of the woman’s brother.

Ankit’s sister, Aarti, told The Indian Express that her brother was in a relationship with the woman for the last 10 years.

Police said the woman’s family members have been picked up for questioning, and a case has been registered at Mahendra Park police station.

6. Man Booked for Raping Daughter-in-Law in Ambala

A 70-year-old Ambala City resident, Kastoori Lal, has been booked for allegedly raping his 38-year-old widowed daughter-in-law.

Women Police Station SHO Sunita Dhaka added that the victim had approached the police station on Sunday evening and was medically examined.

She has alleged that she was raped on 29 September, when her father-in-law assaulted in the kitchen of their house.

Her husband had died four years ago. Before this, they couple lived separately in a rented house. No arrest has been made yet.

7. 20-Year-Old Kidnaps BEST Bus Driver

Vile Parle police have booked a 20-year-old youth for kidnapping a BEST bus driver after mistakenly holding him responsible for his cousin’s accident.

The accused, Yash Rathod and his cousin, Abhishek, set out on different two-wheelers for a joyride. They were riding on the northbound stretch of the Western Express Highway with Yash’s bike trailing Abhishek’s scooter. On reaching the Andheri flyover, Abhishek lost control of his scooter after hitting a pothole

A BEST bus was in the same direction, close to Abhishek’s scooter. “Yash, who reached the accident spot a few minutes later, held the BEST driver responsible for his cousin’s accident.

To prevent the driver from escaping, Yash confined him in the auto outside the hospital," said an officer.

8. Woman Killed Over 'Illicit Affair' in UP

A 30-year-old married woman was strangled to death on 1 October, allegedly over an "illicit relationship in Loi village, police said, adding that the accused has been arrested.

The woman was displaced from Phugana to Loi during the 2013 riots in Muzaffarnagar, they said.

According to Circle Officer Hariram Yadav, a case has been registered against the accused, Munawwer, under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code.

9. Woman Shot at by Man ‘Obsessed with Her’

A 23-year-old woman was shot at by a man in east Delhi’s Harsh Vihar Monday, 1 October, barely 400 metres away from her house, said police.

According to police, the woman, Neha Thakur, had left home for work at 8.30 am, and soon after the accused, Pradeep Sharma (28), pulled up his bike near her and shot her. He was arrested later in the day, police said.

Thakur’s brother, Vikas, alleged, “Pradeep was obsessed with Neha for the last two years…he wanted to get into a relationship with her despite her disapproval. He is married but still wanted to live with Neha.”
