1. 6-Year-Old Girl Found Raped, Strangled to Death in Thane

The body of a 6-year-old girl, who was raped and strangled, was found in Bhiwandi township in Maharashtra's Thane district on Tuesday, police said.

The girl's body was found by one of her relatives near a pipeline in Saravali Pada area of Kongaon here, senior inspector RT Katkar said.

"The girl's parents came to the state some six years ago from Nalanda in Bihar. They are labourers living in the Saravali MIDC area. The child went missing from her home around 8pm on 28 October," Katkar said.

2. Man Dies in Police Custody in UP, Kin Say He Was Tortured

A man detained in connection with a case of loot died in police custody after allegedly consuming poison, officials said on Tuesday, 29 October.

Satya Prakash Shukla (50) and his sons were detained by the police on Monday night in connection with loot of Rs 26 lakh from a bank employee in Peeparpur area, Additional Superintendent of Police (Amethi) Dayaram said.

Shukla allegedly consumed poison and was rushed to a hospital in Sultanpur, where he died during treatment, he said.

3. Criminal Wanted for Murder Arrested After Shootout in Ghaziabad

A man was arrested in connection with a murder from the Chandmari area on Tuesday, 29 October following a brief exchange of fire with police, officials said.

He has been identified as Waseem, alias Vakeel, they said.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sudhir Kumar Singh said Waseem shot a man dead on Monday night, following which police went to nab him. As soon as he saw the police, he opened fire and sped away towards Santosh Medical College on a motorcycle, Singh said.

Police chased him and opened fire in response. Waseem was hit in the leg and he lost balance and fell down, the SSP said. He was nabbed and sent for treatment to a nearby hospital, the officer said.

4. Boy Apprehended for Stabbing Man in Delhi's Uttam Nagar

A 17-year-old boy was apprehended for allegedly stabbing a man who tried to intervene in a fight between him and his grandparents in Delhi's Uttam Nagar , police said on Tuesday.

Sadhu (22), a helper at a gym in Hari Nagar, was allegedly stabbed by the juvenile on late Sunday night in Shiv Vihar, a senior police officer said.

He was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where he underwent a surgery and his condition was stated to be stable, the officer said.

The minor is a school dropout and was staying at his grandparents' house.

5. Man Claims 75-Year-Old's Sorcery Was Making Him Ill, Kills Him

A man was arrested in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur on Tuesday, 29 October for allegedly killing a senior citizen over suspicion that the latter practiced “sorcery”, police said.

The incident took place in Narila village, some 45 kilometres from Jabalpur, an official said.

“Scrap dealer Bhura Kol (40) killed Ram Prasad Kol (75) on Sunday morning as he suspected him of practising sorcery. The accused believed he fell sick often because of this sorcery,” said Amit Singh, Superintendent of Police.

6. 29 Arrested for Attack on Cops in Varanasi

Twenty-nine persons have been arrested for attacking a police team that raided Harsos village of Varanasi on Monday night to nab two wanted criminals.

A team of personnel from the Jaunpur unit of the crime branch reached the village on Monday night and arrested Rajan and Rahul in connection of a murder and loot case, they said.

While the team left in a car, a sub-inspector and a constable, who were on a motorcycle, were stopped and beaten up by villagers, the police said. Around 29 villagers were arrested in this connection.

7. In Revenge Attack, Teen Gunned Down by Five

A 17-year-old boy was murdered by a group of men in north Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar on Monday, 28 October night, allegedly in revenge for an old quarrel, police said.

The boy who helped his family run a general store in nearby Mukundpur was shot at least five times, said a senior police officer. The murder comes less than three weeks after the boy was shot in his foot, allegedly by the same suspects.

Vijayanta Arya, deputy commissioner of police (north-west), said five suspects have been caught for the murder and four country made pistols recovered from them. “Four of them are adults. One is a juvenile. They are all local ruffians and live in the same Mukundpur neighbourhood where the victim lived,” said the DCP.

8. UP Man Dies After Stabbing

A man succumbed to stab injuries at a hospital in the national capital, a week after being attacked by a college student who allegedly harassed his cousin in Kairana town of Shamli district, police said on Tuesday.

Vikki was stabbed on 23 October by the accused, Anuj Kumar, who has since been arrested, they said.

According to Kotwali Station House Officer Yashpal Dhama, the accused was initially booked under attempt to murder charges but it has now been converted into a murder case.

9. Texas Woman Gang Leader Sentenced for Robbing Indian-American Homes

A Texas woman has been sentenced to 37 years in prison for leading a gang that carried out targeted robberies of Indian-American homes across the US.

Chaka Castro, 44, was sentenced on Monday, 28 October by US District Court Judge Laurie Michelson of the Eastern District of Michigan, who presided over the trial.

After a five-week trial, Castro was convicted of one count of Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations (RICO) conspiracy, four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering and four counts of use of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
