1. Man Shot Dead by Acquaintance After Altercation in Delhi

A 43-year-old man was shot dead allegedly by one of his acquaintances after an altercation in Rohini, police said on Wednesday.

Jitender, an AC mechanic, was killed on Tuesday, they said.

One of the suspects identified as Vijay (50), who is a property dealer, has been arrested, police said, adding his three other accomplices have also been identified.

According to police, the incident took place at around 8:30 pm on Tuesday.

However, police said they were informed at around 1 am.

"During probe, it was revealed that Jitender and his four accomplices were consuming liquor at the property dealer's office. An altercation broke out between him and the four men following which one of them shot at Jitender," a senior police officer said.

2. Man Stabbed to Death in Jharkhand, One Arrested

Angry over rejection of his marriage proposal, a 25-year-old man on Wednesday allegedly stabbed the woman's father to death at Jharkhand's Lohardaga district, a senior police officer said.

The victim, 45-year-old Bhero Oraon, had gone out to attend nature's call when the accused, Vishnu Oraon, attacked him with a knife, killing him on the spot, he said.

"Based on a complaint filed by Bhero Oraon's 27-year- old daughter, we arrested Vishnu from Mahuvari village in the district. The woman, in her complaint, said Vishnu had been harassing her for the past one year," the officer said.


3. Cable TV Operator Injured in Firing in Thane

A 49-year-old cable TV operator was severely injured when two unidentified persons shot at him in Thane district of Maharashtra, police said on Wednesday.

The victim, Guddu Munawar Majid, was on way to Ulhasnagar town in an auto-rickshaw around 10 pm on Tuesday when the two motorcycle-borne persons fired two rounds at him from point-blank range in Kalyan area and fled, an official at Mahatma Phule police station said.

Majid, who was into cable TV business in Bazarpeth area of Kalyan town, received bullet wounds on his arms and was rushed to a local hospital where he was undergoing treatment, he said.

According to the police, the victim could not identify the assailants as it was dark at that time.

4. Nine-Year Old Girl Raped in UP’s Fatehpur

A nine-year-old girl, who was alone at home, was allegedly raped by a man in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur district, police said on Wednesday.

The girl was alone at her house as her family members had gone to work in the agricultural fields when the 20-year-old accused, a resident of the same village, took her to a place falling under Khaga Kotwali police station area and allegedly raped her on Tuesday evening, they said.

Later, when the family members went to the accused's house to confront him, they were manhandled and beaten up, police said.


5. Uzbek Rape Victim Seeks Arrest of Accused Police Officer

An Uzbek woman, who was allegedly raped by a police officer, met senior officials on Wednesday seeking action against the accused.

Alleging that the Chembur police were favouring the accused inspector Bhanudas Jadhav, the victim also demanded that the probe be handed over to the crime branch.

"The victim and her lawyer met Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) and others at the Police Commissioner Office in South Mumbai," an official said.

The victim demanded the arrest of Jadhav, against whom she has lodged a complaint of rape at Chembur Police Station.

Before meeting the police officials, the victim's lawyer, Nitin Satpute, said the woman has written a letter to the city police commissioner seeking Jadhav's arrest.


6. Security Guard Robbed, 1 Held in Delhi

A 28-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a security guard at knifepoint after beating him and later tying him in a bid to loot a factory where he worked in outer Delhi's Samaypur Badli, police said on Wednesday.

Two policemen were patrolling on a motorcycle late on Monday night when they heard someone squeaking in Libaspur. They found a person with his hands, legs and mouth tied with nylon rope, copper wire and white cloth respectively, police said.

After the person, Ram Niwas Yadav, was untied, he told the police that he was a security guard of a copper melting factory, an officer said.

7. ATM Cash Box Carrying Rs 13,000 Stolen

An ATM cash box of a bank, carrying Rs 13,000, was allegedly stolen by unidentified persons here, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place at the Bank of Maharashtra's ATM kiosk in Nutan Vasahat area in the wee hours of Monday, they said.

"The thieves first tried to break open the ATM cash box, but failed to do so. Thereafter, they removed the box, which contained Rs 13,000 cash, and decamped with it," Kadim Jalna police station in-charge, Devidas Shelke, said.


8. Man Arrested from Northeast Delhi with Illegal Weapon

A man was arrested in northeast Delhi's Nand Nagri for allegedly possessing illegal weapon, police said on Wednesday.

The suspect was identified as Faiz Khan (26), a resident of Delhi's Pakki Kardam Puri, they said.

On Tuesday, police said they received information that Khan would come on a motorcycle in Nand Nagri's Block C.

A trap was laid and he was arrested from the spot, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Ved Prakash Surya.


9. Kin of Woman Who Ended Life Move HC, Allege Shoddy Police Probe

The family of a woman, who allegedly killed her two children before killing herself in Maharashtra's Thane city, has approached the Bombay High Court, alleging laxity in the police probe and demanding that the case be transferred to the Crime Branch.

Seeta Vavia, 28, allegedly strangulated to death her two sons - Laksh (5) and Rudra (4) - before killing herself at her residence in Thane on September 2.

In a suicide note recovered by the police, the woman said she took the extreme step due to harassment by her husband and in-laws.
