1. Masked Men Chase, Shoot at Man in Jahangirpuri

A group of five-six masked men armed with firearms gave chase to a man and opened fire at his house in northwest Delhi’s Jahangirpuri, injuring him seriously and creating panic among his family members and locals on Thursday night, police said.

According to police, the crime was captured on a CCTV camera installed outside the man’s house and that the attack was due to fallout between two groups of people over a previous case in which the victim’s brother is a key witness.

The man, identified by his first name Naresh, sustained two bullet wounds and was admitted to a private hospital, where he underwent a surgery Friday.

2. Mumbai Doctor Commits Suicide, Three Seniors Booked

Three senior doctors of BYL Nair Hospital have been booked for abetment of suicide on Thursday after a 26-year-old post-graduate student at the hospital committed suicide by hanging herself at the college hostel on Wednesday.

The deceased Payal Tadvi was harassed by the three doctors as she belonged to a lower caste, her family members alleged. On the basis of a complaint lodged by Tadvi’s parents, the Agripada police have registered a case against Dr Hema Ahuja, Dr Bhakti Mehar and Dr Ankita Khandilwal under section 306 (abetment for suicide) of the Indian penal code (IPC), sections of the SC/ST Atrocities Act, Anti-Ragging Act and Information Technology Act, 2000.

3. Delhi Man Cheats Over 50 Investors of Rs 5 Crore, Held

A 35-year-old textile engineering diploma holder was arrested by the Delhi Police’s economic offences wing (EOW) for allegedly cheating more than 50 investors of over Rs 5 crore by luring them into investing their money in multilevel marketing schemes for higher returns, police said Friday.

A Skoda Rapid sedan that the suspected con man, Durvijay Yadav, had purchased using the money he duped from investors was seized from a house in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh, where he was hiding for the past few days. Yadav was arrested from the house on Wednesday, the police said. Police are now looking for Yadav’s associates whose interrogation would lead them to busting the entire racket. Additional commissioner of police (EOW) Suvashish Choudhary said Yadav’s arrest came following investigation into a cheating, criminal breach of trust and conspiracy case registered with the EOW in 2017 on a complaint of one investors, Rajesh Singh Tomar.

4. Delhi: Four Men Pose as Sadhus, Rob Businessman

Police arrested three persons who posed as sadhus and robbed a dairy businessman in Najafgarh. The accused were identified as Krishan (38), Yaqub Shah (37) and Wazid (27). A fourth accused, Chand, who allegedly masterminded the crime, managed to escape, police said.

The accused allegedly took advantage of the fact the businessman was suffering losses and, under the pretext of performing a havan, robbed him of more than Rs 11 lakh at gunpoint. Police said they recovered a pistol and one live cartridge used in the crime, and impounded a Swift used by the accused.

5. Man Elopes With Woman in UP, Her Family Sets His House on Fire

A 26-year-old man eloped with a woman following which her family members allegedly set his and his uncle's house on fire, police said Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday and 10 people, including four women, were booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 436 that deals with mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc, Station House Officer (SHO), Miranpur, Pankaj Tyagi said.

One of the accused has also been arrested, he added.

Trouble started after the man eloped with the 20-year-old woman from Rasulpur Ghari village in the district three days ago, after being in a relationship for some months.

6. Harassed by Husband and In-Laws, Pregnant Woman Sets Self Ablaze in Telangana

A 19-year old pregnant woman set herself afire unable to bear with the alleged harassment by her husband and parents-in-law for money, police said Friday.

The incident happened in Nizamabad on 21 May. She is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital. She had left her husband as she could no longer bear with the torture and began living with her mother, the police said.

Under the circumstances, the husband came to her mother's place on April 21 and tried to force her to live with him, they said.

When she refused to go with him, Prashant threatened to end his life by setting himself ablaze with the petrol he had brought with him. An argument between the two ensued, they said.

7. Delhi Man Arrested for Killing Stray Dog in a Fit of Rage After It Attacked His Wife

In a horrific incident, a man killed a stray dog after it attacked his wife when she was strolling with their pet canine in the Mukundpur area of Delhi, police said on Friday. The accused, identified as Fauzi Colony-resident Rajkumar, has been arrested, they said, adding the incident took place on Thursday evening.

"A complaint was received at Bhalswa Dairy police station wherein it was alleged that a person had killed a dog. Subsequently, a video recording of the alleged thrashing and death of the dog was obtained," Gaurav Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer-North Delhi)," said.

8. Cop, Gangster Injured in Encounter

A Delhi Police sub-inspector and a gangster sustained injuries in an encounter in Kanjhawala on Friday evening, the police said.

DCP (Special Cell) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav said that the accused has been identified as Ankit Dabas (20) who was involved in the Dwarka shoot-out in which two criminals were killed.

The police said that the encounter took place around 7:45 pm on Kanjhawala Bawana road in which S-I Kishan sustained injuries when the accused fired at the police party.

9. Two Arrested for Robbing Auto Driver, Locking Him in Flat

The Panvel Taluka police have arrested two people for robbing an autorickshaw driver of 10 tola gold, Rs 8,300 in cash and one mobile phone and locking him inside their rented flat in Panvel. The accused, identified as Mehboob Ayub Sayyed (44) and Sarfaraz alias Sohail Mansoor Ali Shaikh (36), were arrested from Borivali and Malegaon respectively.

Senior police inspector Ashok Rajput said Shaikh had rented the flat a month ago.
