1. ND Tiwari’s Son Murdered, Reveals Autopsy

About 72 hours after the 39-year-old son of a late politician was believed to have died of a heart attack at his south Delhi residence, the police on Thursday night registered a case of murder against ‘unknown persons’.

Shekhar lived with his wife, mother and his half brother in a three-storey bungalow.

Sudhir Gupta, head of the department of forensic medicine at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where the autopsy was conducted, said, “The post-mortem examination was conducted by a team of five senior doctors and they all came to the same conclusion that the cause of death was asphyxia (suffocation) due to smothering by a pillow. It was a clear case of sudden unnatural death of the category of homicide.”

2. Four Charge-Sheeted for Impersonating CJI

Four people accused of impersonating the Chief Justice of India and his secretary and seeking information from the acting Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court on elevation of a Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Judicial Member, were chargesheeted by the Delhi police earlier this week.

According to the charge sheet filed in the Patiala House Court, the four accused — Pramod Kumar, Mrityunjay Pandey and Jai Kumar Nayar from Delhi and S Ashok from Hyderabad — entered into a criminal conspiracy to get information on the purported elevation of one V Ajay Kumar, a judicial member of the CAT in the principal bench at New Delhi, to Karnataka High Court and make ₹5 lakh in return.

3. Gzb: Man Kills His 65-Year-Old Mother With Brick

The Ghaziabad police on Friday arrested a 40-year-old man from Ikla, located under the Masuri police station area, for allegedly murdering his 65-yearold mother after she denied him money.

Police said the man had allegedly repeatedly hit her mother’s head with a brick.

4. Army Officer’s Wife Robbed by ‘Tyre Puncture’ Gang in West Delhi

A 42-year-old woman, the wife of a serving Indian Army officer, became the latest victim of Delhi’s notorious “tyre puncture” gang as two motorcycle-borne men broke the window pane of her car and fled with her handbag, which was kept on the front seat.

The incident took place around 8:30pm on Wednesday in front of the Delhi Traffic Police headquarters at Todapur in west Delhi’s Inderpuri.

5. Three Die, One Injured After Auto Turns Turtle on Mathura Rd; Driver Held

Three people were killed after an autorickshaw they were travelling in overturned on Mathura Road on Friday morning.

The auto driver was allegedly driving the vehicle holding the handle with one hand while cleaning the windshield with a cloth using his other hand. The three deceased men worked with a caterer in Lajpat Nagar and were returning from a job in Jaitpur. The auto driver, Vijender, has been arrested.

6. Sex Racket Busted in North Delhi After Minor Manages to Flee, Calls DCW

A prostitution racket was busted in north Delhi on Friday after a girl managed to escape and made a call to the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) helpline 181.

Three girls, in the age group of 11to 13 years, were kidnapped from Assam and brought to Delhi. The DCW rescue team got to know that all of them were orphans and faced physical abuse. Customers were usually charged Rs 250 each. An FIR has been registered and the agent has been arrested.

7. Delhi PCR Unit Head Accused of Sexual Harassment

An inquiry has been ordered after women police personnel, posted with the police control room in one of capital’s 15 districts, alleged that their newly appointed in-charge was “harassing” them at the workplace by making objectionable comments about them.

The complaint was sent to DCP Devender Arya, who forwarded it to the sexual harassment committee led by Additional DCP Benita Mary Jaiker.

8. Gang Involved in Making Bogus Insurance Claims Busted

A gang, whose members were allegedly involved in making fraudulent insurance claims in the name of patients who died of cancer by showing them as road accident, was busted by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Haryana Police on Friday.

Three persons identified as Pawan Bhoria, Mohit and Vikas have been arrested in this connection, a police spokesman said in a release here.

Divulging modus operandi, he said the accused first used to identify cancer patients and contact their family members.

Subsequently, they got the cancer patients insured and after showing their deaths in road accidents, they would help get the insurance claims after lodging FIRs at different police stations in Haryana, he said.
