1. Man Kills Mom’s Partner for ‘Eyeing’ Minor Sister in Delhi

A 20-year-old man stabbed his mother’s ‘partner’ to death in outer Delhi’s Baba Haridas Nagar on Wednesday afternoon for allegedly harassing his minor sister, police said.

The man called the police from the crime spot itself and informed them that he had killed his “father”, said Anto Alphonse, deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka).

The murdered man was not the suspect’s father, the DCP said. “The victim had entered into a relationship with the suspect’s mother in 2012, a year after she lost her husband,” he said.

2. Tension in J&K Town After Man Killed, Family Blames Cow Vigilantes

Communal violence broke out in Bhaderwah town of Doda district on Thursday morning as the killing of a man triggered protests in the area. While the victim’s family claimed he was targeted on suspicion of being involved in cattle smuggling, the Doda district administration ruled out cow vigilantism as the reason behind the murder.

According to sources, Naeem Ahmad Shah (50), a resident of Qilla Mohalla in Bhaderwah, was walking home from Basti village with two others, when he was shot by some people at Nalthi bridge around 2 am on Thursday.

Quoting one of the men accompanying Shah, identified as Yakir Hussain, sources said when the men reached near Nalthi bridge, they noticed some people hiding behind the bushes. These people allegedly started abusing them and accused them of being cattle smugglers.

3. Witness in Murder of Shahabuddin’s Nephew Shot Dead

A trader Shyam Babu alias Javed Mian, 35, the prime witness in the sensational murder of incarcerated former RJD MP Shahabuddin’s maternal nephew Mohammad Yusuf (38), was shot dead by motorbike borne three assailants in Siwan Town on Wednesday evening.

The incident took place at Ramraj Mode, a stone’s throw away from Siwan railway station. Police said that Javed was attacked around 5pm when he sat on his chicken shop.

Eyewitnesses of the incident said that armed assailants surrounded and shot him from point blank range. They also fired on air to terrorise the locals and passerby.

4. FIR Against 3 from Faridabad College for ‘Sexual Harassment’

An associate professor, a junior lab assistant and a peon of a government college in Faridabad were suspended and an FIR registered against them after a student alleged they sexually harassed girls “with the temptation of passing in papers”. The FIR was registered following media reports, police said.

“Police found out about the matter through reports published in two newspapers. Prior to this, no complaint had been received and the victim had also not contacted us directly,” said Sube Singh, PRO of Faridabad Police.

“Taking note of the matter, Commissioner of Police gave directions to register an FIR at Sector 16 women’s police station… an investigation is underway. Attempts are also being made to contact the victim,” he said.

5. Police Arrest 2 Men for Threatening Toll Collector with Toy Gun

The police on Thursday arrested two men for allegedly brandishing a toy gun and threatening a toll collector at Kherki Daula toll plaza to skip paying toll on Wednesday night. The police said that they used the CCTV footage of the incident to nab the suspects.

The accused men were identified as Kashish Lamba (23) from Pathankot, Punjab, and Mohit (27) from Karnal. The police said that both the suspects had met each other at a coaching centre in the city at least two years ago.

After receiving a tipoff, the police arrested Mohit, a teacher at a private school in Farrukhnagar, from Hero Honda Chowk and Lamba, who is training at a private company from Sector 18 on Thursday, the police said.

6. Guard Held for Molesting Girls at Gurgaon Park

A security guard at a house in Gurgaon has been arrested for allegedly molesting young girls playing in a nearby park. According to police, a written complaint was received at the Palam Vihar police station regarding the matter Wednesday.

The complainant had alleged that a man employed as a security guard at a house near the park would molest the girls under the pretext of playing with them.

”An FIR was registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act, and the accused was arrested from the house he was guarding,” said Subhash Boken, public relations officer of the Gurgaon Police.

7. Liquor Trader Shot at by 2 Bikers, Escapes Narrowly

A 41-year-old liquor trader was allegedly shot at by two bike-borne assailants on Thursday late evening, while he was returning home in Sector 10, the police said, adding that he had a narrow escape and the bullet hit his car’s window mirror.

According to the police, Satish Chauhan a resident of Basai Enclave near Sector 10 was returning home around 9:30 pm. He had stopped his car to buy fruits from Kadipur village.

“While he was buying fruits, two bike-borne assailants shot at him but the bullet hit on his car’s right side glass window. The victim got down from his car and tried to note down the registration number of the car. Meanwhile, the passersby informed the police control room about the incident,” said Shamsher Singh, assistant commissioner of police(crime).

8. Man Booked for ‘Beating Two Minor Sons with Cable Wire’

A man has been booked for allegedly beating his two sons, aged 11 and 9, with cable wires at their residence in Sanjay Park.

According to the police, Sushant Sonone (31), a social worker with the Bal Hakka Kruti Samiti, Pune, lodged the first information report in the case at Vimantal police station on Wednesday.

Police have booked the father under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

9. Delhi Woman Attacked During Morning Walk

A morning walk in West Delhi’s Inderpuri on Monday turned out to be a nightmare for a 34-year-old woman who became the target of a snatcher, said police.

The crime was captured by a surveillance camera and showed the woman resisting the attempt at her gold chain, being pinned to the ground and thrashed by the snatcher, while his accomplice waited on a motorcycle, and the suspects fleeing after her cries got the attention of passers-by.

Police identified the victim only by her first name — Roja. She works as a human resource manager at a private firm. The attack left her with injuries to her neck and face.
