1. Delhi: Father-Son Raped Girl Adopted by Family, Held

A 37-year-old man and his father have been arrested from the Southwestern range for allegedly raping a minor girl they had adopted two years ago. According to police, the girl, who is under 10 years old, was adopted by her biological mother’s sister, as she did not have children.

“Last year, the aunt died. Since then, her husband was looking after the girl along with his father, who is in his 50s. The girl has alleged that the 37-year-old started raping her on December 20 last year.

2. Three Held in Delhi for Duping People With Fake Army Jobs

Three persons were arrested for allegedly duping over 100 people by offering them jobs in the Army. Police said two of the three arrested men were themselves victims of a fake job racket. They then started duping people by wearing Army uniforms and conducting fake medical tests in a Bhubaneshwar hotel, and later issuing fake admit cards.

Police identified the accused as Balkishan from Haryana, and Kallepali Srinivasa Rao and Kottapali Venkata Rao from Andhra Pradesh.

3. Nalanda Journalist’s Son Killed, His Eyes Gouged Out; Five Detained

The teenage son of a Nalanda-based journalist was found dead with his eyes gouged out on Sunday night. Police suspect the involvement of local youths and have detained five people.

While the police are yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder, they suspect the boy, who was mentally unstable, might have done “something abnormal” and was attacked fatally.

4. In Second Murder in 6 Months, Former Student Shot Dead in Allahabad Univ

A former student of Allahabad University who was also a history-sheeter, was shot dead in a hostel of the university in the early hours of Monday, 15 April, police said.

The deceased identified as Rohit Shukla was shot dead in the PCB hostel after a tiff with one Adarsh Tripathi who had contested the students’ union elections earlier. Earlier his month, Shukla had been named in a list of illegal inmates of the hostel.

5. After 5 Years on the Run, Man Held for Murder in Delhi

A 26-year-old man who had been on the run for five years after allegedly killing his neighbour over parking in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area was arrested Monday, police said.

Laloo Yadav a vendor by profession was absconding since 2014 in a murder case, they said. Yadav is from Begusarai, Bihar.

6. Two Boys Arrested for ‘Sexually Assaulting’ Four-Year-Old in Basti

A four-year-old girl who was playing outside her house was allegedly sexually assaulted by two minor boys of her village in Chhawni police station area of Basti district on Sunday evening. Both the boys were detained and later sent to juvenile home.

According to the police, the accused boys took the four-year-old to a secluded area where they sexually assaulted her and left her bleeding. The girl was later taken to a nearby hospital where she underwent tests that confirmed sexual assault, they added.

7. Two Die in Blaze at Firecrackers Warehouse in Gurugram

Two people died and five more were injured after a firecracker warehouse caught fire in Kadipur industrial area on Sunday night. Of the injured, two are critical with more than 80 percent burn injuries while the remaining are out of danger, the police said on Monday evening.

The police have arrested the owner of the warehouse and his son, and charged them with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and attempt to culpable homicide, as well as sections of the Explosives Act.

8. Teens Who Stole Bikes to ‘Patrol Like Police’ Held

Two teenagers were apprehended by the police on Sunday from Central Delhi for allegedly stealing numerous two-wheelers.

The police said, the teenagers, students of class 8 and 9 “aspired to be policemen” and stole the two-wheelers for “joyrides and patrol the city like the police”.

Eleven two-wheelers were recovered by the police from different areas of the city such as Paharganj, Pitampura, Sadar Bazar, and Loni in Ghaziabad.

According to the police, the boys would steal a vehicle and then abandoned it when it ran out of fuel.

9. Road Rage: Bizman Thrashed at Signal for Not Giving Way

A businessman was thrashed in public during a road rage incident in east Delhi’s Jagatpuri on Sunday night. The man was pulled out of his car and beaten by two men on a motorcycle.

Police said that the incident happened at 8pm on Sunday, when the victim, identified as Ashish Goyal, was driving back home.

He told cops that when he stopped at the Jagatpuri traffic signal, people on a motorcycle behind him constantly kept asking him to give way.
