1. Surgeon Arrested After Rape Complaint by Woman
A surgeon from Safdarjung hospital was arrested on 14 October for allegedly raping a sales representative of a pharmaceutical company.
“The woman alleged that she was raped by the surgeon in April at a house in South-West Delhi, which the surgeon had taken on rent,” said a police officer.
A case of rape and causing hurt by poison has been registered against the surgeon.

2. Man Arrested for Molesting Co-Passenger on Air Asia Flight
A shop-owner from Rajasthan has been arrested for allegedly molesting a co-passenger on board an Air Asia flight from Guwahati to New Delhi on 15 October.
The woman told police that initially she thought it was by mistake. She alleged that the man repeated his act 4-5 times before she woke up and called the cabin crew to report the matter.
Deputy commissioner of police (IGI Airport) Sanjay Bhatia said the man was identified as Raj Kumar Jain. He was booked for molestation based on the woman’s statement and was arrested, he said.

3. Murder in Delhi’s Connaught Place Over Entry to Shelter Home
Two homeless men were arrested for allegedly murdering a 26-year-old sanitation worker of a night shelter near Bangla Sahib Gurdwara in central Delhi, over not letting them enter the facility because of their illegal activities.
Police said the arrested men, Kunal alias Anshul, 22, and Prem Kumar, 22, allegedly stabbed to death Praveen near Rajiv Gandhi Handicrafts Bhawan in Connaught Place.

4. Uran Man Gets 20 Years in Jail for 8-Year-Old’s Rape
The Alibaug district special sessions court for Pocso Act convicted a 28-year-old man from Uran for raping his 8-year-old sister-in-law, and sentenced him to 20 years’ rigorous imprisonment.
Assistant public prosecutor Advocate Ashiwini Bandivdekar-Patil said that the crime took place at the house of the accused, a labourer, in October last year.

5. Nigerian Killed in Nalasopara, Countrymen Go on Rampage
A group of Nigerians went on the rampage, damaging vehicles in Pragati Nagar, Nalasopara (E) on 16 October after a fellow national was allegedly murdered.
Locals retaliated by blocking buildings and chawls occupied by Nigerians, and prevented them from stepping out. The area was tense and police have stepped up security and have contacted the Nigerian consulate.
Tuling police suspect Gut Ke Joseph (35) was punched, kicked and left to die by fellow Nigerians after a drinking binge around 3.30 AM.
A case of accidental death has been registered and the autopsy report is awaited. Some Nigerians and local residents have been detained for questioning.

6. Two Incidents of Snatching in Delhi, Student and Professor Targeted
Two incidents of snatching were reported from north Delhi in the past two days in which a Delhi University student and a professor were targeted near Maurice Nagar and Vidhan Sabha, respectively.
Police said the cases of snatching were registered and the CCTV footage from the areas were being scanned to identify the men.
The cops suspect the role of the same gang in both the incidents. The profiles of the snatchers narrated by the student and the professor were being matched with the criminals recently arrested.

7. Man Booked for Cheating Woman of Rs 16 Lakh
Police on 16 October booked a man for cheating a techie of ₹16 lakh on the pretext of marrying her at Anna Nagar in Chennai.
The techie from Anna Nagar in her complaint said she was a divorcee. In 2017, she befriended Ravindran, 40, over a social networking site.
Police have booked Ravindran for cheating and are investigating the matter.

8. Youth Harasses Woman for Five Years, Arrested
Police have arrested a 24-year-old man hours after he was accused of harassing a young woman for the past five years.
The accused had allegedly been stalking and passing lewd comments for all these years, forcing the woman to curtail her social activities to a minimum, cops said.
A case under IPC sections pertaining to stalking, criminal intimidation, outraging the modesty of a woman, threat and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace has been registered against the accused.

9. 20-Year-Old Murdered at Friend’s Birthday Party in Gurugram
A 20-year-old man was bludgeoned to death with a stone on 16 october near Sector 5 in Gurugram, as a confrontation at a friend’s birthday party turned violent. The body was found dumped in a cluster of bushes about a kilometre from the police station in the area.
The police said that a personal rivalry caused the alleged confrontation, which led to the man’s murder.
A case was registered against the suspects under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code at the Sector 5 police station.
