1. 7 Dead in Trichy Temple Stampede, PM Modi Expresses Condolences
A temple festival witnessed a tragedy on Sunday morning as seven people were killed and 12 others injured in a stampede. The incident took place at the Muthaiyampalayam Karuppusamy temple in Thuraiyur in Trichy. Four women and three men were killed, and 12 people taken to a nearby hospital.
The Tamil Nadu government has offered a compensation of Rs 1 lakh for the seven people who died and Rs 50,000 for those injured in the tragedy. Taking notice of the tragedy, the Centre has stated that it will give Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to each of the injured.

2. Re-Poll Recommended in 10 Booths in Tamil Nadu, Including 8 in Dharmapuri
Ten booths in Tamil Nadu have been recommended for re-polling by the Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sathabrata Sahoo, including eight from Dharmapuri and one each from Cuddalore and Tiruvallur Parliamentary constituencies.
Both Parliamentary elections and bye-polls will be conducted once again in these ten polling booths, The News Minute reported. The recommendation was made after DMK candidate S Senthilkumar from Dharmapuri complained. Reports and videos of PMK functionaries capturing polling booths in Dharmapuri constituency went viral on social media on the day of elections. It also prompted action from the Election Commission.

3. Three Waiting for Bus Hit by Truck at Ramapuram
In an accident in the early hours of Sunday, three men who were waiting at a bus stop in Ramapuram were run-over by a tipper lorry. The police have arrested the lorry driver and further investigation is on.
The three were working at a bakery in Ramapuram, the police said. After work on Saturday, Murali and Sivakumar came to the bus stop to see off Murthy. At this juncture, a tipper lorry from Guindy headed towards Porur lost control and swerved to its left. It hit the bus stop where the three were waiting.

4. Medicines & Equipment Destroyed as Fire Breaks out in Private Hospital in Chennai
Medicines and equipment were destroyed in a major fire at a private hospital at Kelambakkam on Saturday morning. Fire service officials said they received a call around 4:15 am on Saturday that fire was noticed at the first floor of the hospital. “In one of the buildings where the hospital was located, fire started from the first floor and spread to the second floor,” said a fire officer.
Fire fighters used sky lifters and broke the glass skyscrapers and tried to put out the fire. They struggled for more than two hours to douse the flames, the officer said. A preliminary probe revealed that the smoke billowed from the air conditioner of the pharmacy on the first floor.

5. Youth Held with Drugs Worth over ₹3 Lakh
Sleuths of the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau arrested a 23-year-old man who was carrying drugs worth Rs 3.75 lakh in Mogappair East on Saturday. The officials received information about a youngster selling narcotics from Mogappair and surrounding areas. They made a policeman contact the seller under the pretext of purchasing drugs.
When he came to deliver, the NIB sleuths nabbed him. Sarath Saravanan, a resident of Triplicane, had completed his bachelor’s degree in computer application a few months ago. The police recovered five LSD stamps, 23 MDMA tablets, hashish and a motorcycle from him.
