1.David Cameron Says India Fortunate to Have a Leader Like PM Modi

Former British Prime Minister David Cameron on Thursday, 19 July, said India is fortunate to have a leadership with clear vision, adding that the country should, however, focus more on developing skills and infrastructure.

"India is fortunate to have a leadership with a clear vision. When I met Prime Minister Modi I saw he has deeply thought about long-term problems," Mr Cameron said in reply to a question at the Annual General Meeting of the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata.

Earlier, in his speech, Cameron lauded PM Modi's flagship programme ''Skill India'' but pointed out that such goals cannot be achieved by the government initiatives alone.

6. Car Topples Over on Parama Flyover

A car travelling at high speed through heavy Thursday afternoon traffic on the Parama flyover hit a lamp post along the median divider and landed on the other flank.

Two people travelling in the Mahindra TUV were injured, but it might have been worse had the airbags not deployed, police said.

The incident occurred around 1:25 pm, when the Park Circus crossing remains busy with many vehicles ferrying students of schools that get over around that time.
