1. Mamata Banerjee In ‘Parallel Rule’ Protest

Mamata Banerjee on Sunday accused the BJP of running a parallel administration in Bengal by sending retired officers from Delhi to help the party win poll.

The chief minister’s comments have come a day after special observer Ajay V Naik alleged the situation in Bengal at present was similar to that of Bihar “10-15 years ago”.

Addressing an election rally in Nadia’s Gayeshpur, the Trinamool Congress supremo alleged that the retired officers had been “abusing Bengal and humiliating its officers by removing them as per their whims with an agenda to help the BJP”.

Trinamool has already lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Naik, accusing him of being politically biased and demanding his removal.

It has been a mystery to fans exactly how Satyajit Ray brought to life his grandfather Upendrakishore Roychowdhury’s Goopy and Bagha on screen. From the props to the clothes, from the expressions to the make up, fans have wanted to know how Ray recreated them for the audio-visual medium. All that will be uncovered at the weeklong exhibition planned on Goopy Bagha by the Society for the Preservation of Satyajit Ray Archives at Gaganendra Shilpa Pradarshashala from 27 to 30 April.

There were illustrations that Upendrakishore drew for the original story, but those weren’t enough to bring the characters to life on film. So Ray started an all new kheror khata to sketch the concept. It was a long process and the sketches evolved with the master to arrive at what we see on film.
