1. 15-Year-Old Girl Testifies, Helps Nail Killer Dad in Mumbai
A sessions court on Monday convicted and sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering his wife by setting her on fire at their home in Andheri.
The 15-year-old daughter of Madhavi Mali and Mohan Mali told the court her father had an affair and used to bring the woman home. This led to constant fights between her parents.
On 12 October, her maternal aunt got a call the accused had set fire to the victim, who died on 16 October.
2. Day After Girl Alleged Rape by BJP MLA, Her Father Dies in Custody; Four Arrested
A day after a 17-year-old girl who accused Bangarmau BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of raping her tried to immolate herself near the residence of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over police inaction, her father died in custody in an Unnao jail Monday, allegedly of injuries sustained when he was brutally assaulted by supporters of the MLA six days ago.
3. Probe on Into Death of Twins
The Udumalpet police have commenced an inquiry into the death of one-and-a-half-year-old twins, who were brought dead to Taluk government hospital at Udumalpet late on Saturday evening.
Police sources said the version given by the 19-year-old mother of the twin sons, Kavin Pratap and Kavin Prasath, was that she fed the minors with rasam rice and potato on Saturday evening.
Suddenly, the children developed stomach problems. They were put to sleep after being given cow’s milk, and taken to hospital when they did not wake up, according to the mother’s statement.

4. 66-Year-Old Gets 10 Years for Sexually Abusing Child
A special POCSO Act court on Monday sentenced a 66-year-old man to 10 years’ imprisonment for sexually abusing a seven-year-old in a park near her residence in 2015.
The accused, John Dsouza, promised to buy the child a snack but instead took her to an empty autorickshaw – she was rescued by passers-by upon hearing her screams.
5. Woman Alleges Illegal Detention, Molestation at Police Station in Ludhiana
A woman has alleged that she was illegally detained for the entire night and molested at the Salem Tabri police station in Ludhiana. She alleged that three policemen picked her up on the complaint of her brother-in-law on Sunday and she was detained for entire night.
The 35-year-old woman, a resident of Shivpuri road, alleged that she was picked up from her home around 8 pm Sunday and kept inside police station for whole night without any lady constable present there. She also alleged that three policemen who were on night duty ‘molested’ her and that they were drunk.
6. 4 Years on, Murder of 70-Year-Old in Mulund Stays a Mystery
Four years after a senior citizen was found dead in her home with her hands tied and gagged, a senior inspector of Navghar Police station says the case of the suspected murder of Laxmi Maruti Naik in Mulund is the only unsolved case at the police station.
After investigating for two years, he said, the police filed a summary report before a magistrate’s court, thus classifying the case as true but undetected. The police said they took the help of other police stations, but to no avail.
7. Journalist in Ghaziabad Was Shot Over Councillor Polls, Say Police
A day after senior journalist Anuj Chaudhary (38) was shot by unidentified assailants outside his Ghaziabad home, police have identified the accused and detained two persons in connection with the case.
SSP, Ghaziabad, Vaibhav Krishna said, “We have found a lead in the case. Two people have been detained and are being questioned regarding the whereabouts of the main accused.”

8. Child Trafficking Racket: Accused Applies for Discharge
A 37-year-old businessman who was arrested in connection with a human trafficking case where at least 17 minors were sent to European countries, on Monday filed for discharge in the case. The main accused Hemang Modi has also recently filed a bail application.
As per the prosecution’s case, Modi, his wife Harsha and their four accomplices allegedly submitted fabricated documents with Mumbai’s Regional Passport Office and obtained passports in the name of Sarang Modi, Mahi Modi, Hetal Modi and Sandesh Modi. With the help of these passports and that of Harsha’s, eight boys and nine girls – all minors – along with four women travelled abroad on different dates between 2013 and 2017. The prosecution has alleged that five different women have travelled abroad on Harsha’s passport and four of them did not return to India.

9. Man Duped of Rs 5 Lakh for ‘Railway Job’
A gang of cheats duped a youth who was looking for a job in the Railways, by conducting a fake interview in Railway Bhavan itself.
The conmen took Rs 5 lakh from the youth for the post of a ticket checker. Senior officers confirmed that a case has been registered at the Parliament Street police station. The complainant, Raj Kumar, told police that he met a man, Bhushan, in the train.
