1. Rohit Shekhar’s Wife Smothered Him While He Was Drunk: Police
Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested the widow of Rohit Shekhar Tiwari, son of late politician ND Tiwari, for murdering her husband by allegedly smothering him with a pillow and throttling him to death while he was in an inebriated state at their South Delhi home in the early hours of 16 April.
Police said the immediate trigger for the murder was Shekhar, 39, taunting Apoorva Shukla Tiwari, 35, with a story of how he and a woman relative of his had travelled in the same car and drank alcohol from the same glass, hours before, on the drive to Delhi from Uttarakhand, where he had gone to vote.

3. Lakhimpur Kheri: Brother Hacks 15-Year-Old Girl to Death After Spotting Her With Man
A 15-year-old girl was killed and a 20-year-old man was injured when they were spotted by her brother at a village in Lakhimpur Kheri district on Tuesday evening.
The brother, also 20 years old, was arrested.
The girl’s family did not approve of the relationship because the youth was from a different community, said the station house officer (SHO) of a police station where the murder case was lodged.

Three days after allegedly murdering his wife and three children, Sumit Kumar (37) was arrested by Ghaziabad Police from Karnataka early Wednesday morning. Police said he admitted to drugging wife Anshu Bala (33) and their children, five-year-old Prathmesh and four-year-old twins Arav and Akriti, before slitting their throats inside his Indirapuram home.

4. BJP Leader Who Tried to Hang Self Dies, Police Say He Was Depressed
A local BJP leader in Surat died on Tuesday, nearly a week after he allegedly tried to commit suicide by hanging himself with a rope in his house.
Arvind Patel, (65), a resident of Budhiya village in Sachin GIDC, was associated with the BJP for the last 35 years. On April 17, his family members found him hanging in the house and immediately brought him down. He was admitted to a hospital where he died on Tuesday.

5. 26-Year-Old Held for Killing Mother’s Lover
The Mulund police arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly killing an auto rickshaw driver on Monday night. The accused, Ravi Ghate, was allegedly angry with the victim Devendra Singh, 55, for being in a “close relationship” with his mother.
Ghate’s mother runs an eatery, which Singh frequented. The duo were in a relationship, which Ghate opposed.

6. Kota Man Gets 20-Year-Old Jail Term for Raping Three-Year-Old
A special court today sentenced a man to 20 years in jail in Kota for raping a three-year-old girl after kidnapping her from home last September.
The special court, set up under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act also imposed a fine of Rs. 2.10 lakh on convict Ajay Rai alias Taxi, 25.

7. Jharkhand Labourer Allegedly Burnt to Death for Demanding Payment
A person working as a labourer at a stone crushing unit in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district was allegedly burnt to death by the unit owner's son today.
According to police, the incident took place at Rud village under Ichak Police Station of the district early on Wednesday. The half-burnt body was recovered from bushes.

8. Police Busts Sex Racket After Raid at DLF Phase-1 Spa, Two Women Held
The police on Wednesday arrested two women from a spa in DLF Phase-1 for their alleged involvement in flesh trade. Two teams from DLF Phase-1 police stations raided the spa after sending decoy customers to the establishment.
The suspected women, both between the ages of 20-25, have been living in the city for the last one year, police said. “We sent two head constables as decoy customers, at Avon SPA on the first floor of Qutab Plaza market. They met the spa manager and one of the women at the counter demanded ₹1,000 for a massage and asked to finalise the charges for ‘extra services’ from a woman who was inside the cubicle. The women demanded ₹2,000 each for these services. The decoys agreed and handed over two notes of ₹2,000 denomination to each,” assistant commissioner of police (crime) Shamsher Singh said.
