QCrime: Inter-State Drug Racket Busted; Man Held for Raping Friend

1. Man Held for Selling Stolen Vehicles After Tampering Chassis Numbers

A 32-year-old man who allegedly 'purchased' stolen cars from Delhi and neighbouring areas and later sold them after changing their chassis numbers has been arrested, police said on Wednesday, 16 May.

The accused, Jishan Qureshi alias Pawaa, had sold or dismantled one thousands cars in the last three years, they said.

Alok Kumar, joint commissioner of police (Crime), said Quershi was arrested from Dwarka on Monday, 14 May.

2. CBI Arrests 2 UP Police Sub-Inspectors in Unnao Rape Case

The CBI today arrested two sub-inspectors of the Uttar Pradesh Police in connection with the reported death of the father of a minor girl, who was allegedly raped by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Senger at Unnao, in judicial custody.

Sub Inspector Ashok Singh Bhadauriya, the then Station Officer and Sub Inspector  Kamta Prasad Singh – both of Police Station Makhi in Unnao district – have been arrested in the case, officials said.

The duo is at present under suspension. The accused will be produced before the competent court tomorrow, they said.

3. Man Booked for 'Raping' Woman Friend

A 30-year-old man was booked today for allegedly raping his 28-year-old woman friend, a housewife, at different locations in Thane and Pune districts, police said on Wednesday, 16 May.

The accused, identified as Yogesh Patil, developed friendship with the woman around one year back, police said.

The complainant claimed that Patil took her to Jejuri in Pune district and raped her in a lodge in January this year, said an official of Thane police station.

4. Delhi Govt Official Arrested in Imran Hussain Assault Case

A Delhi government official was arrested on Wednesday, 16 May, in connection with the alleged assault on Delhi minister Imran Hussain in February, the police said.

The Aam Aadmi Party, however, called the arrest a "mere eyewash" intended at misleading the court. The arrest comes on a day when the Delhi Police sent a notice to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asking him to join the investigation in connection with the alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash on 19 February at his residence.

Hussain had on 20 February lodged a complaint with the police claiming he was assaulted by officials and staff at the Delhi Secretariat, hours after Chief Secretary was allegedly attacked by AAP MLAs at Kejriwal's residence. The Delhi Government Employees Association had, however, refuted the allegation.

5. Youth Held for Raping Mentally Ill 7-Year-Old Girl

A seven-year-old mentally challenged girl was raped by a 20-year-old man at a factory in northwest Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar on Tuesday, 15 May evening.

The accused, Sonu, lured the child with a toy while she was playing outside her house, took her to a bathroom inside the factory and raped her. He let her off and stayed back for a smoke.

In the meantime, the survivor reached home with blood on her clothes and narrated the incident to her mother. When her father asked where the assault had happened, she started crying and pointed towards the vacant factory. “We saw him stepping out of the factory and chased him. He fell while trying to board a bus and was caught by our relatives,” said the child’s father. Sonu was thrashed and handed over to police. The child was sent for medical examination.

6. Bihar: Seven-Month-Old Girl Sexually Assaulted in Madhepura, Accused Held

Madhepura Police on Tuesday, 15 May night, arrested a 22-year-old youth for allegedly sexually assaulting a seven-month-old girl child at ward number ten of Jairampur village under Murliganj police station area in the district.

Mulriganj police station SHO Jai Prakash Chaudhary said that the accused has been identified and is a neighbour of the victim’s family.

“The accused took away the child from her residence for some time. Almost after half an hour, when he dropped the child back, the family members observed that she was bleeding from her private parts,” SHO Chaudhary said.

7. Inter-State Drug Racket Busted, Three Held

The Special Cell have busted an inter-State drug cartel with an arrest of three persons on Tuesday, 15 May, from north-west Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh, the police said on Wednesday.

The arrested men have been identified as Shakeel and Irshad, both residents of Uttar Pradesh (UP), and one Jitender Yadav, who is from Jharkhand, they added.

The police have seized five kg of heroin worth more than Rs 20 crore in the international market and several mobile phones with SIM cards used in trafficking drugs.

8. A Month After Son’s Suicide, Father Runs from Pillar to Post Seeking Justice

Nearly a month after a 24-year-old Staff Selection Commission (SSC) aspirant allegedly committed suicide in north-west Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar, his Meerut-based family is still running from pillar to post seeking justice. A woman had allegedly threatened to frame Prateek in a false rape case.

Accusing the Delhi Police of inaction, the family registered a complaint with the Meerut police on Tuesday, 15 May. The Meerut police has contacted its Delhi counterpart in connection with the case, said his father Rajkumar Singh.

When he asked a policeman to take action in the case, Singh claimed he was told that “people commit suicide daily blaming celebrities and politicians but that does not mean every politician or celebrity is arrested”.

9. Two Kidnap Youth for Rs 15 Lakh Ransom; Take Rs 15,000, Release Him

Two people were arrested on charges of kidnapping and holding a youth for a ransom of Rs 15 lakh at Uthiramerur on Wednesday, 16 May.

The kidnap came to light after Rajesh’s father Muniappan received a call from the kidnappers, demanding a ransom of Rs 15 lakh for the release of his son. Rajesh, 24, went to attend a friend’s marriage on 29 April and failed to return home. Muniappan lodged a complaint with Uthiramerur police who began a search.

However, the kidnappers abandoned Rajesh near a forest in Tiruvannamalai after withdrawing Rs 15,000 using his debit card.
