1. Bengal Primary School Teacher Arrested for Molesting Girl Students

A local court in Siliguri in West Bengal on Monday, 21 May, sent a 35-year-old primary school teacher to jail, who was arrested on Sunday for allegedly molesting girl students while forcing them to watch pornography inside the school premises.

Police said the teacher, Bablu Singha, had been sexually exploiting the primary students for the last three years in the school near Phasidewa in Darjeeling district. Singha’s victims were between nine and 13 years.

“The accused (Bablu Singha) used to force the girl students to remove their clothes and touched their private parts and also compelled them to watch pornographic clips on his mobile phone,” said the complaint lodged by a parent of a victim at Phasidewa Police Station. Police suspect Singha abused many more girls.

2. Killers Who Butchered 15-Yr-Old Delhi Domestic Help Took 3 Hours to Chop Her Body

The killers of a 15-year-old girl from Jharkhand, whose dismembered body parts were found in a drain in outer Delhi a fortnight ago, used a cleaver purchased from a market in Nangloi to chop her body into 12 pieces.

The brutal murder was committed around 11pm on 3 May after allegedly planning for a week, the police said. Manjeet Karketa, 30-year-old agent of a fake placement agency, at whose rented house the crime was committed has already been arrested by the police in connection with the case.

Soni was lured to Delhi three years ago from Jharkhand allegedly by Karketa and his associate Rakesh, who is still absconding, with the promise of a high-paying job. However, she was allegedly forced to work as a domestic help at various houses across Delhi. She was murdered by Karketa and three others for demanding her salary, around Rs 2 lakh that she had earned working as a domestic help.

3. Help ‘Steals’ from Woman’s Accounts, Buys Car for Husband

Mumbai Police have arrested a help for allegedly withdrawing Rs 12 lakh from a 62-year-old woman’s accounts without her knowledge. The help, Kiran Kale, worked at the house of the elderly woman, Nilima Nagarkar, who lives in Ganesh Apartment in Matunga with her son, daughter-in-law and grandson. As her son and his wife are working, they had employed Kale to take care of their child.

Police said Nilima had written the PINs of her debit and credit cards on a paper, which the accused allegedly found while cleaning the house. After withdrawing Rs 12 lakh from her two accounts, the accused gifted a car to her husband, who worked for an app-based cab company, police added.

4. Murder of Jamia Couple Solved: Their Son Did It, Says Delhi Police

Delhi police arrested a 26-year-old man on Tuesday, 22 May, and his associate for allegedly killing his parents as they were opposed to him marrying a woman he met on Facebook. According to police, the accused, Abdul Rehman, was an only son. Police added that he had been eyeing their property.

On 28 April, the bodies of Shamim Ahmed (55) and his wife Taslim Bano (50) were found on the first floor of their house in Jamia Nagar. As nothing was found stolen, the family, including Rehman, had said they did not suspect foul play. Relatives told police that they had to break open the main door as it was locked from the inside.

5. Farmer Allegedly Beaten to Death by Upper Caste Men

A group of upper caste men allegedly beat a 30-year-old farmer to death at Senawali village in Firozabad district on Monday, 22 May. Additional Police Superintendent Mahendra Kumar said the upper caste men thrashed Shyamveer Yadav, an OBC, following an altercation after the farmer’s cattle damaged crops in a land owned by one of them.

One Rukum Singh caught Shyamveer, who was from Gadi Pengu village, when he went to Senawali to get his cattle back. Kumar said the two scuffled before Anshu Singh, Bintu Singh, Guddu Singh and Sonu Mishra joined Rukum and allegedly attacked Shyamveer with sticks and bricks. He was left critically injured and unconscious.

6. NHRC Issues Notice to Guj Govt Over Dalit Man Flogging

The NHRC has sent a notice to the Gujarat government on Tuesday, 22 May, over the incident in which a Dalit man was allegedly beaten to death in a factory compound near Rajkot district's Shapar town by five people, and sought a report on it within four weeks.

Mukesh Vaniya, the 35-year-old Dalit ragpicker, was lynched and his wife Jayaben Vaniya was roughed up on 20 May, officials said.

He was allegedly beaten to death in the factory compound by five people, including the factory owner, who suspected that he and his wife were stealing scrap, they said.

7. Mumbai Girl Scolded by Dad for Excessive Use of Mobile, Kills Self

A Nalasopara girlended her life by allegedly jumping into a well after her father took away her cellphone and scolded her for chatting on the mobile.

The body of Shraddha Dhavle(22) was found in a well in Nalasopara (west) early Tuesday, 22 May. Her parents had filed a missing complaint with the Nalasopara police after she went missing from their Omkar Nivas home in Samelpada, Nalasopara (west) at around 9.45pm on Monday.

According to Shraddha’s father Mangesh, who works as a ward boy in a private clinic in Nalasopara, on Monday at around 8 pm, he had taken away Shraddha’s cellphone as she was found chatting and talking on the mobile for the last few hours.

8. Anganwadi Worker Killing: Naxal 'Sympathiser' Held

Police probing the killing of a woman anganwadi worker allegedly by naxals in Chhattisgarh's Kondagaon district, arrested a suspected Maoist supporter on Tuesday, 22 May.

"Sudan Mandavi (30) was picked up from Kohkadi village under Mardapal police station limits of the district by a team of local police," Kondagaon Additional Superintendent of Police Maheshwar Nag told PTI.

He was allegedly part of the Maoist squad that had killed local anganwadi assistant Parvati Korram (20) on 21 April in Kohakawadi village on suspicion of being a police informer, the officer said.

9. Mysuru Man Bobbitised, Killed

An unidentified man was bobbitised and killed in Mysuru on Tuesday, 22 May.

Vijayanagar police was alerted about the brutal murder by Belvadi residents early in the day. His body was thrown near a factory. Police said man's identity is yet to be known.

Cops said his assailants may have bobbitised him first and then killed him. Efforts are underway to establish the man's identity. His body was thrown near Kirloskar factory off National Highway 275.
