1. Lucknow: Man Kills Daughter ‘for Inter-Caste Affair’, Arrested

A 47-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 18 November, for allegedly slitting his 22-year-old daughter’s throat over her purported relationship with a youth belonging to a different caste at Salempur Khutiyana village in Firozabad district.

Harivansh has been sent to jail after being produced before the magistrate.

Pooja was killed in the wee hours when she was asleep, said police. “The father killed her when everyone in the house was asleep. He first gave electric shocks to her. When she resisted, he slit her throat with a knife. The father wanted her to get married to a person from their caste and had been trying to convince her to end her relationship with a youth, who is from the OBC category. Even Pooja’s family belongs to the same category but from another caste. They are financially more stable than the youth’s,” said senior sub-inspector Yogesh Kumar, posted at Jasrana police station. Harivansh has been booked under IPC section 302 (murder).

2. Two Held for Selling Banned Medicines in UP

In a joint raid conducted by officials of the health department and police at two drug stores here, two men were arrested for allegedly selling banned medicines on Monday, 18 November.

The tablets banned for sale were also seized during the raid in Kotwali police station area on Sunday, the officials said.

According to Drug Inspector Vaibhav Babbar, two persons were held for selling the banned medicines at their drug stores.

3. Man Robbed of Gold Chain at Petrol Pump in West Delhi

A 36-year-old man was allegedly robbed of his gold chain by two bike-borne men at a fuel station in Rajendra Place, police said on Monday, 18 November.

Sandeep Bhola, a resident of Rajender Nagar, was on the way to his house when he had stopped at the petrol pump to refill air in his car's tyres.

Two men, wearing helmets, came on a bike and fled from the spot after snatching his gold chain, the police said.

The victim ran after them, but the snatchers managed to escape by driving on the wrong side, they said.

4. 21-Year-Old Loses Foetus After Robbers Kick Her During Jewellery Heist in Ghaziabad

A three-month pregnant 21-year-old woman lost her foetus after armed men attacked her in her jewellery shop on Saturday 16, November in Loni’s Ved Vihar in Ghaziabad.

Police said the in-charge of the DLF police post was lax in registering an FIR into the incident. It was finally registered on Sunday, 24 hours after the incident. The in-charge was sent to Police Lines on Monday.

At around 3 pm on 16 November the couple Ragini Gupta and husband 23-year-old Raj Nath Gupta were in their shop when two men wearing helmets came in posing as customers.

5. Woman Crashes Car Into Toy Shop, Kills One in Narayan Peth

A woman was killed after being hit by a car that rammed into a toy shop in Narayan peth on Saturday, 16 November.

The victim, identified as Deepa Ganesh Kakade, 53, a resident of Narayan Peth, was walking outside the shop when the incident took place.

The accused driver has been identified as Rutuka Manoj Lalwane, a resident of Narayan Peth. The incident happened at 6:30pm on Saturday when the Kakade was returning home with her husband from Cosmos bank after dropping off a cheque, according to the victim’s husband who is the complainant in the case.

6. Caretaker Held for Theft at War Veteran’s House in Chandigarh

Employed at the house of a 86-year-old decorated war veteran just five days ago, a Kaimbwala man fled with jewellery worth Rs 9.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh in cash on Sunday, 17 November morning.

Identified as Lokesh, 21, he was arrested later in the evening and sent to two-day police remand on Monday.

Squadron Leader Hamir Singh Mangat (retd), who was awarded Vir Chakra for his participation in the Indo-Pak War in 1965, had employed Lokesh as a caretaker for his wife at their house in Modern Housing Complex, Manimajra, last week.

7. Mumbai: Cancer Patient Cheated of Rs 1.4 Lakh in Card Cloning Case

A 65-year-old cancer patient has registered a case of cheating after an unknown person fraudulently withdrew cash from his bank account, said police. The senior citizen lost Rs 1.4 lakh, which was supposed to go towards his treatment.

Police suspect it to be a case of card cloning, wherein the accused made use of skimmers and cameras to get the complainant’s account details, following which money was withdrawn using the PIN. Sion police sources said they have identified the senior citizen as Prakash Pawar, whose daughter registered a case on his behalf.

8. Mumbai: Mother, Her Son Held for Killing 23-Yr-Old Woman

The Mumbai Police arrested a 40-year-old woman and her son for allegedly killing her 23-year-old daughter in their hutment in Phydonie on Sunday, 17 November.

Police said the victim, Nirmala Waghela, was in a relationship with a man who her mother Paapu and brother Aakash did not approve of.

An officer said there have been past confrontations wherein Nirmala was asked to leave her boyfriend. “But on Sunday, when Nirmala packed her clothes and was about to leave with her boyfriend, there was a fight between the mother and daughter, and the two (mother and son) strangulated Nirmala with a dupatta,” an officer said.

9. Man Armed With Revolver in Social Media Photo Arrested

Police on Monday arrested a 21- year-old man here in Maharashtra for uploading a photo of himself on social media brandishing an illegal revolver, an official said.

The accused has been identified as Rishikesh Raju Jawlekar,originally a resident of Shendra in adjoining Aurangabad district.

Local Anti-Dacoity Squad (ADS) chief Yashwant Jadhav saidthe police swung into action when it came to came to know the accused had uploaded a picture brandishingthe revolver on social media.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team nabbed Jawlekar at Badnapur in Jalna district, he said.

Thepolicefrisked him and found the revolver and a magazine on him, Jadhav said
