The researcher who accused R K Pachauri of sexual harassment in February this year, expressed her angst over him resuming to work at TERI (The Energy and Research Institute of India) without any stringent actions taken against him.

He was finally sacked yesterday as chief of TERI, more than five months after the scandal broke out.

World-famous climate scientist Dr R K Pachauri was welcomed back to his office with garlands and flowers, while I am being shunted out of work. I have been on leave without pay since 26 May. I stood my ground, fought sexual harassment at the workplace... and it is me who is being shunted.

The official release by TERI, however, did not cite the sexual harassment allegations as the reason for the removal of Pachauri. Instead, it praised him for leading and building TERI over the last 34 years.

The researcher had written a letter to the Council of Members of TERI on the 3rd of April for which she didn’t receive any reply or even an acknowledgement, reported Indiatoday.

With India Inc luminaries like Naina Lal Kidwai, Kiran Shaw and Deepak Parekh on TERI’s governing council, its shocking to know that the organisation failed to reach out to the researcher when she needed support.

“I was transferred to another office in a department not suited to my qualifications,” she said.

She told NDTV that her ordeal has been exacerbated by insensitive and numerous lapses including her Facebook photos being given to the police without her permission by TERI.

The complainant was also being harassed by Pachauri since 2013 via email, Whatsapp and text messaging.
