New Delhi, May 2 (IANS) India and the US discussed maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region during the third round of the the India-US Maritime Security Dialogue, the External Affairs Ministry said on Wednesday.
"During the Dialogue, the two sides discussed developments in the maritime domain in the Indo-Pacific Region and exchanged views on ways to further strengthen bilateral maritime security cooperation," the ministry said in a statement following the meeting held in Goa on April 30-May 1.
"They also reviewed the implementation of the decisions taken during the previous maritime security dialogues," it added.
The meeting assumes significance as both India and the US are part of the recently revived quad, that also includes Japan and Australia, that seeks to work for the peace and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region.
While the Indian side was jointly led by Pankaj Sharma and Munu Mahawar, Joint Secretaries in the Ministry of External Affairs and Richa Misra, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, the US delegation was led by David Helvey, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs, and Daniel Rosenblum, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs.
