Students belonging to Dalit community in a Kullu high school were reportedly made to sit in a "place used for horses" during the telecast of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ‘Pariksha Par Charcha’ on Friday, 17 February.

According to Indian Express, the students, in a written complaint to Kullu Deputy Commissioner Yunus, alleged that their teacher made them sit in a separate room and were told they could not leave midway, or they would lose assignment marks.

They also claimed that they face caste discrimination during mid-day meals, adding that the headmaster Rajan Bhardwaj does nothing to change it, and himself practises untouchability.

This matter has come to my notice today. I have asked Secretary, Education to get a report and take stern action. I have also been told that Dalit students faced discrimination in the school earlier too, during midday meals. If these reports are true, we will not spare the guilty
Suresh Bhardwaj, Education Minister, Himachal Pradesh to Indian Express

Speaking to the newspaper, Education Secretary Arun Sharma said that the government will seek a report from the local administration.

Her parents hail from a low-income group and have stopped going to work so that they can take care of the baby. You can help cover Chhutki's medical expenses and secure her future.
