60-year-old Baba Amarpuri, chief priest at Balaknath temple in Haryana’s Fatehabad district, was arrested after videos of him allegedly raping women surfaced online, reported ANI.
The Haryana police have found nearly 120 video clips, showing the self-proclaimed ‘tantrik’ indulging in sexual acts.
Amarpuri alias Billu, was arrested on Thursday, 19 July, and produced before a Tohana court on Friday. He was sent to police custody for five days, reported The Indian Express.
Police have reportedly found "suspicious articles" during a raid at his temple and house.
The accused allegedly used to drug the women and subsequently rape them. By filming the act, he used to then reportedly blackmail his victims. The 60-year-old purportedly used to tell women that he would solve their problems using his apparent expertise in occult practices.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Jogind Sharma told ANI that the videos where Baba Amarpuri is seen allegedly raping the women are doing the rounds in the town. He appealed to people not to circulate such videos as it's a "criminal act", reported ANI.
The cops have received at least 120 clips, each with a different victim. A relative of the accused had given the clips to the police on a CD, reported The Times Of India.
The accused, however, has denied all allegations and said he's being framed.
