The government is in the process of intensifying efforts to release Chandu Chavan, the Indian soldier, who is supposedly in Pakistan's custody. His grandmother succumbed to a heart attack after the news of Chavan being held captive in Pakistan reached her.

Kin of the captive soldier along with MoS Defence Subash Bhamre met Sushma Swaraj on Thursday.

Chavan belongs to the Borvihir village in Dhule district and is allegedly detained in Pakistan for accidentally crossing the border.
