As part of ‘Music for a Cause’ initiative, Genesis Foundation (GF) recently organised the 5th edition of the Kasauli Rhythm & Blues Festival 2016 (#KasauliRnB) at Baikunth Resort. The two-day festival (25-26 March 2016) had an eclectic mix of eight bands –ranging from rock to pop, Bollywood to electronica – that had supporters and festival-goers grooving to their tunes, all for the cause of GF – to support critically ill underprivileged children. The Delights of Day 1The show-starters for the festival were Frisky Pints, an Indie Pop Rock band, who set the high-energy tone of the festival from the first beat. Apart from their own singles, they had the crowd swaying and singing along to covers such as Uptown Funk.Tabla Maestro and Sultan of Strings (Feat. Ustaad Fazal Qureshi, Ravi Iyer and Ravi Chary) provided the perfect sundowner with their classical, fusion and percussion magic.Mihir Joshi Band took to the stage next and made sure that every person was on his/her feet. Everyone was coming together for the love of music and to give life a chance. The finale for the night was none other than the ever-so-soulful Shilpa Rao. The night was resonant with her Bollywood renditions, giving a perfect end to a perfect first day of #KasauliRnB 2016.The Curious Mix on Day 2The weather gods seemed pleased with day one’s music and extended their blessings to day two as Kanchan Daniel & The Beards opened the day with Kanchan casting a spell with her truly unforgettable voice. The Local Train rocked the stage and raised the energy to epic levels as they sang a mix of English and Hindi rock.As night dawned, Massive Vibe Live!, an international band, were ready with some striking, hypnotic visuals to go with their music. They were a breath of fresh air and the audience took to them beautifully, absorbing their energetic, positive vibes. The crowds cheered and went ecstatic when Lesle Lewis started his magical finale set with a song we all know, Krishna. It was an absolutely grand finale performance with the audience unwilling to let Lesle go, and screaming out for more. The musical mania went on for a few more hours on both the nights with SUN’s (DJ) after-party numbers. The Cause Was Endorsed by Dia Mirza and the SupportersGenesis Foundation facilitates medical treatment for critically ill underprivileged children, suffering from cancer, heart diseases and Thalassemia. Brand ambassador Dia Mirza spoke movingly about how each one of us can start small, yet have a big impact for a cause. Let’s try and make giving accessible – think about one child at a time without getting overwhelmed by the enormity of the issue, and get more people to care about the cause.Dia MirzaGenesis Foundation has supported the treatment of more than 850 kids and has 150 kids waiting to be treated. This festival was one such platform where music lovers joined in to give these little kids a chance to live. We'll get through this!
