Fire in an Oil Godown Near South Kolkata’s China Town Kills 3

Fire engines were rushed to the spot as the blaze engulfed LPG cylinders in the vicinity.

Three people were killed in a fire which broke out in an oil godown in Tangra area of Kolkata in West Bengal on Thursday.

Seven fire engines reached the godown located near China Town of South Kolkata.

One of the three people burned to death was the owner of the godown, Ram Avatar, while another was an employee, reports DNA. The identity of the third person remains unreported.


As officials of the Disaster Management Group (DMG) are carrying out rescue operations, the injured were rushed to the nearest hospital.

The fire which broke out at the oil godown at 1:30 pm, engulfed the LPG cylinders in the vicinity and brought the traffic to a stand-still.
