An ‘exorcist’ in Bihar who made money out of cheating believers and exploiting women on the pretext of treating them, has been arrested. A woman he was allegedly trying to rape raised an alarm and the matter came to light.

The incident occurred in south western Bihar last week at the ‘exorcist’ Dharmraj Gond’s ashram in Dasaunti village.

A woman came to him to treat her husband’s cancer through exorcism. She was taken alone, into a dark room. When she found Gond “getting physical”, she screamed and called out to her relatives outside the room.

The woman later told police that when she brought her husband to Gond, he told her that her husband’s cancer was in the advanced stage but it could be cured with a ‘pooja’ that would cost the family Rs 20,000. They eventually settled at Rs 15,000.

I became suspicious when the voice of ‘Kali’ was the same as that of Gond’s daughter-in-law who I had met during our earlier visits. So, when I found Gond getting physical with me, I immediately raised an alarm and ran out of the room.
Woman to the police

Another man posing to be ‘Bhairav’ turned out to be Gond’s friend. Both Gond’s daughter-in-law and his friend have gone absconding.

The police also unearthed five human skulls, Rs 18,000 in cash and fake cash memos from his house. The police have sent the skulls to Forensic Science Lab in Patna to ascertain if they really are human skulls.

Gond told the police that he had brought the skulls from his guru’s place in Uttar Pradesh.
