Love Sonia, based on the horrors of child trafficking, hit the theatres on 14 September. The movie depicts the journey of Sonia who in search of her sister reaches Mumbai and finds herself trapped in the clutches of a brothel keeper. Rajkummar Rao, a rescuer from an NGO tries to rescue her with the help of the police but fails.

Does the story depict the ground reality of child trafficking? Retired customs officer and former Hockey player, Anson Thomas, who has been on a mission to rescue women and children from the underbelly of Mumbai’s red light areas watched the film and weighed in.

We asked Anson to review Love Sonia. He also opened up about how accurately the filmmakers have captured the home truth, based on his personal experience as a rescuer.
