AAP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday, 13 April, said his party is still ready to form an alliance with the Congress in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab but would not agree for a tie-up just in the national capital.
"In the last one week, meetings were held between the AAP and the Congress and we proposed alliance on 33 seats in Delhi, Goa, Chandigarh, Haryana and Punjab seats, out of them 23 seats are with the NDA," Sisodia said.
This comes a day after Congress’ PC Chacko confirmed that the Congress will fight alone in Delhi as a deal with the AAP could not be struck.
“We are compelled to contest Lok Sabha polls on our own,” said PC Chacko who’s AICC general secretary, Delhi.
He said the AAP did not agree to ally just in one state. According to reports, the AAP wanted to ally with the Congress in Haryana and Punjab as well.
“The AAP wanted to have an alliance in other states... that’s not practical. Every state is different. If they are ready for an alliance in Delhi with the Congress, we are ready even today.”PC Chacko
Chacko further added that the Congress will “announce the seats tomorrow or day after tomorrow.”
AAP-JJP Alliance in Haryana
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) on Friday announced that they are forming an alliance in Haryana to fight in all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
AAP leader Gopal Rai said the JJP will fight in seven Lok Sabha seats in Haryana, while the AAP will contest in three.
The JJP was launched by former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala's grandson Dushyant Chautala, following a power struggle in the state's main opposition INLD last year.
Dushyant Chautala said he would decide on his party's candidates for the seven seats in the next two to three days.
"Jhadu (broom, as in the AAP's election symbol) and chappal (sandals, i.e. the JJP's poll symbol) will remove obstructions and emerge victorious, and together they will defeat the BJP and Congress," Chautala said.
