The University of Delhi is likely to continue with its existing policy of adjustment of marks on the pro-rata criteria while calculating eligibility marks for applicants, a move it was planning to do away with earlier, Hindustan Times reported on 13 May.

As part of the marks awarded by the Central Board of Secondary Education, the university’s official rule book accepts marks with 70 percent theory and 30 percent practical as the two components of their exam, the Daily reported.

However, applicants who do not fulfill the criteria find their marks calculated on pro-rata basis, HT reported. In addition to calculating the total marks scored in a particular subject, the university aimed to calculate the ‘best of four’ marks as the eligibility marks for the exam.

For applicants whose ‘best of four’ did not meet the criteria, the university deducted 10 marks or 2.5 percent till 2016.

In case, the subject to be considered has 60% theory and 40% practical component, then the marks of theory and practical are converted to 70% and 30% respectively on pro-rata basis. The new marks are considered for calculation of ‘best of four’.
